We had a great time reading Macbeth while listening to the tavern ambience. There are also other sounds inspired by games plus Harry Potter sounds and LotR/Hobbit sounds. If they're ever all out of the house at once I shut off everything and listen to the glorious silence. Ditto for driving alone. I actually love silence as well and I can't work or read silently if there's music or videos or anything. I enjoy silence too. Ds left for classes at 9 and dh left for work at 10:45. Before they left the tv was on. The both enjoy white noise. I enjoy silence. Since they left there's been no tv, no music, no ambient sound. However, there are times when I like background noise too.
