Night Elf
That's so open ended! My current favorite series is the Dortmunder series by Donald Westlake, beginning with The Hot Rock. That was even made into a movie.

Jenny in Florida
Recently, I have enjoyed: - Astonish Me, by Maggie Shipstead - Life in Motion, by Misty Copeland (Not especially well written, but a fascinating story.) - The Selection and sequels (a YA dystopian trilogy) - My Real Children, by Jo Walton I can't "recommend" any of them without knowing more about your taste, but I liked all of those. VaKim
New? Classic? Fiction? Nonfiction? I just read Parnassus on Wheels, which was very cute, and free for kindle. Uncle Tom's Cabin Gone With the Wind Anne of Green Gables series What Alice Forgot 360 Degrees Longitude: One Family's Journey Around the World The Help Water For Elephants Tarzan of the Apes (Hey, I thought it wouldn't be any good too, but it really is! It and the Return of Tarzan.)
Piper
I just read "The Last Policeman" and "Countdown City". Fun reads. The last book of the trilogy isn't out yet, though it's only a month away.

kiana
David Weber's Honor Harrington series (space opera). SM Stirling -- anything he wrote (alternate history/fantasy). Chapters of many are available on his website.
Liz CA
I am currently reading a Dana Stabenow book. Most of her books are set in Alaska and are mysteries / crime stories. General series I recommend: Amelia Peabody Series by Elizabeth Peters (humorous), the Baxter series by Karen Kingsbury (drama, Christian). Anne of Green Gables and the Chronicles from Avonlea, pretty much any book by Dorothy L. Sayers. Anne Perry has several series published. One of them is the Thomas Pitt series, another the William Monk series; both are good. Perry also has a series about WWII - right now I can only remember two titles of that series, At Some Disputed Barricade and Shoulder the Sky. Maybe I'll remember more. Mothersweets
Master and Commander series by Patrick O'Brian. although I would probably suggest starting with #5 - Desolation Island, it has everything - a shipwreck, women on board causing trouble, mutiny, gaol fever runs through the crew, political intrigue, sigh...it's my favorite.:)
MicheleinMN
The Flavia de Luce books by Alan Bradley. Fabulous! :iagree: I also agree with the Percy Jackson series and its spin-offs. Dh would recommend the A Princess of Mars series, and he's not a "big" reader, but he really enjoyed that series.
