Pegasus
We've had several cats over the years but this is the first time we've had one that likes to play fetch. She is so funny to watch as she runs after it, picks it up in her mouth, and returns it for another throw, dropping it at our feet. DH insists she has some Jack Russell blood in her because her play can be relentless. Our arms get tired from throwing!
happi duck
We do! Our current cat plays fetch and some past cats have too...but not all.
Audrey
Yes! There was a thread about this a while back. It's surprising how many cats out there do this. http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/488452-does-anyone-have-a-cat-that-plays-fetch/
Cinder
Yes, we did. I posted the full story in the thread linked above. He did just like your cat does. And when he was done he'd set the ball down between his front paws and lie down.

DawnM
I thought this sounded familiar. Yes! There was a thread about this a while back. Onceuponatime
We had one that would play hide-and-seek with the kids.
happi duck
We had one that would play hide-and-seek with the kids. When dc were little our cat would get so excited about hide and seek she'd ruin the game...whoever was it just had to follow the cat as she gleefully found everyone! Hypatia.
Our grey tabby Xena loves to play fetch. Her favorite toys are craft pom poms, preferably the small ones. The large ones she'll fetch once or twice and then massacre them in the hallway. She'll still use a toy mouse if she can find it, she dropped one on my face about 3 this morning. Woodhaven
We do too! How fun! Our female cat will catch small fabric balls in the air that the boys throw over her head, with her paw. Or they will throw it down the stairs and she will run down and bring it up in her mouth. Molly will carry one of her balls around the house trying to recruit someone to play with her. She sometimes even plays by herself, swatting the ball down the stairs and then chase it down, and bring it up to do it all over again. She can play like that with the boys for a very long time without tiring. At night, around 3:30 - 4:00 she will carry a ball down our hallway and "cry" with it in her mouth. When no one comes to play with her (no one ever does at that time at night), she will drop it outside one of the boys rooms and sit there and cry piteously. They keep their room doors shut at night because the cats (we have 2) want to wake them up at night to play.

5LittleMonkeys
I used to but sadly he passed away years ago. His name was Bob. :) I also had a parakeet that would fetch a jingle bell, bring it back and toss it against my leg so I would throw it again. :tongue_smilie:
sewingmama
Yes we have one. I've had many cats over the years but this is the first one to do it. Ours loves to chase dried noodles lol. He also loves to jump on the trampoline. Whenever the kids ate jumping on the trampoline he jumps on and just sits there and lets them bounce him up and down lol. He also chases the kids around the yard... I see the kids run past the window and then the cat chasing after them lol. My kids adore this cat..he was a stray..just turned up at our house one day and moved right in.
Bug's Mom
We've had 2 cats who loved to play fetch. A house cat who played it with a soft ball that looked like a golf ball. We'd play until he would dip it in his water bowl. Also, when returning the ball, he preferred to drop it into a shoe. We had a cat at our guitar shop who played fetch with plastic caps from soda bottles. Dh would scrape his fingernail on the side of the cap and the cat would come running in, ready to play. CindyH in NC
So do we. This is the first cat we have ever had to play fetch. He prefers to fetch small balls of wadded up paper, but will occasionally play it with his favorite toy mice. It is so funny.
stephanier.1765
Yep, our latest addition does. It never fails to amaze us and we probably get more joy from the game then he does..
