chepyl
We have been watching the Olympic gymnastics competitions...last night we had vaulting attempts in the living room. Tonight, general chaos!!! It is quite entertaining! I have repeatedly warned them that the only hospital trip I am making Is to have this baby so they had better not break something! ;)
my2boysteacher
Our living room is always a gymnasium! After watching the gymnasts on the pommel horse, I caught oldest DS outside, trying to replicate some moves on the side of the bed of the pick-up truck. :scared:
Ghee
Yes. Dd was swinging between the arm chair and couch while being a gymnast. She was flinging herself with such wild abandon that I'm not sure what exactly her goal was. She was also doing Lamaze like breathing :001_huh:
Mommy22alyns
Oh, all the time. Both girls are gymnasts; Rebecca is competitive. We've been a gym for 6 years!
mamakven
Hahaha! yep! mine has! Annabeth just pelted chloe in the head doing a cartwheel... sigh...
KrissiK
Yeah, my kids have been "playing olympics" this week.
Jean in Newcastle
My living room is always a gym. Right now dd is running down the hallway trying to land her front handspring.
fraidycat
We have four Corda-Roys in our living room. It is always a gym, complete with mid-air flips and flying drop kicks. We haven't even watched any of the Olympics yet.
chepyl
Both kids take gymnastics classes, so we usually get handstands, cart wheels and forward rolls.....but this is different! Furniture was rearranged, there were true vault attempts....neither has done vault in class yet! It is a mad house I tell you! But it is fun.:D
acablue
My kids have figured out how to use the arm of the couch as a vault, the back of the couch as a pommel horse, the backs of two chairs as parallel bars, the top of the swingset as a high bar, the backyard fence as a balance beam, and my hands as rings. :glare:
AndyJoy
My DS thinks everywhere is a gym! He's been in gymnastics class since 18 mo. and loves it. A few nights ago I let him stay up late to watch some of the men's gymnastics and he was very impressed. 1. Using DH's friend as equipment (yesterday) 2. At Burger King (last month). This was one of those, "Should I stop this immediately or get a picture first?" moments.
alisoncooks
Haha, ours is! I could youngest DD doing "diving" off the couch and "swimming" on the floor. Oldest DD was practicing her "toe point" and "headstand". :D
TKDmom
:D The other night dd2 was doing somersaults over the ottoman, then saluting to the tv. So funny. I had to take a video and post it to FB.
Mommyfaithe
Yep....more because of me though....never know when a yoga session may strike:D Also, my boys use the beam that goes across our l/r to hand over hand, do pull ups, or to hang kid brother from:glare: The couch is a perpetual trampoline.....and the kids use our solid oak coffee table to row...as in crew team. ( we LOVE the wii game where they row...) Funny thing is my mom gave me the coffee table when she moved closer to me....and I remember my brother and I did the same thing:D
mc26
Always. Younger DS does gymnastics. He enjoys scaling doorways Spiderman-style. Oh, and I am the only one I know with a tennis net strung across our foyer.
chepyl
Glad we are not the only ones! Both kids want to dive as well after watching synchronized diving. At least they have shown no I.merest in water polo....our pool would be a very dangerous place!
Jeannie in NJ
not now but when they were little they played Olympics. Once when ds was quite small, he was using the back of the sofa as a balance beam. He fell off and we were like "And he failed to stick the landing".
