Soror
If you can bear another baby name thread.... We found out last night that we are having another girl! We are looking for short (6 letters or less or so or not with many syllables) and classic girl names but they cannot start with an L, 2 out of our 3 kids have L names- and it cannot be a flower name as one girl has a flower name and one doesn't. Bonus points for a Saint name :) Any ideas?
Leanna Tomlinson
We found out we're having a boy, so I'll give you our girl name: Esther Margaret

Soror
OH, thanks, so far I like; Claire Anne (although dh prefers the spelling Ann) Sophia Maria
My3Munchkins
I love the name Claire. Unfortunately it doesn't go well with our last name so I wasn't able to use it for DDs.
Ellesmere
OH, thanks, so far I like;Claire Anne (although dh prefers the spelling Ann) Sophia Maria Obviously I should have a bias towards Claire. But Sophia or Maria would actually be my pick. I campaigned for Maria during one pregnancy and did not win that round. Congratulations! HelenNotOfTroy
My favorite short, classic girl names are Alice Anne Jane Mary
MomtoCandJ
Sophia has become a very popular name (know 2 babies named Sophia and one is my cousin.)

BamaTanya
I'll join you in loving "Maria." I'm a sucker for West Side Story and The Sound of Music. I sing those Maria songs all the time. The most beautiful sound I ever heard: Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . . All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word . . Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . . Maria! :D Maybe I'll get a granddaughter named Maria . . . :001_wub: I also love Claire and Jane. So sweet and feminine and classic.
Sparkle
I love the name Maria, but dh doesn't so we couldn't use it.
BlsdMama
I vote Selah.
Tammi K
I loved the name Claire but it didn't go with our last name, either. (Way to 'clunky') But I really wanted to use it. So, we added and 'Anna' to it. She's AnnaClaire and we frequently get comments about how 'different' and beautiful it is. Bonus - 2 saints names (almost - I'm stretching a bit with Anne/Anna) in one. happypamama
Alice and Julia were on my short list for DS3 (along with Katherine, Abigail, Elizabeth, and Caroline, sigh). Annie or Anna came to mind when I read your first post. DH really likes Bridget/Brigid a lot.
astrid
Molly! :D Her name is actually Molly Catherine Linnea (last name), all three of which I love. We call her Molly Cate though. "Molly" is a diminutive of "Mary," and "Catherine" was a saint. :001_smile: astrid
Soror
I didn't know Molly was a form of Mary. Molly Cate is very cute. I have Catherine and Therese for middle names so those are out here. We like Anna but it wouldn't work with one of dd's names. AnnaClaire is pretty though. Dd #2 was almost Rosemary but I don't know that we could do that now w/ already having one flower name. Everyone we told it to hated it though. We didn't officially name dd2 until 2 days after she was born and dd1 was named the moment she was born. Rjmakmom
I vote for Maria....I am partial to that name since I have one. She is Maria Salome (Sal-oh-may), both of which are quite biblical. :)
WIS0320
Kateri and Julitta are both saints names and very pretty and underused.
Soror
I actually know a Kateri. Dh is now bringing up Isabel, again. Before even becoming pregnant I always wanted to name a daughter Isabel but then the name became crazy popular and it certainly is not short like the other names, sigh. Of course we inadvertently named our last daughter a name in the top 5.

From all the names mentioned, I think Molly Catherine/Cate is adorable, Sophia is lovely (but, like Isabel, very popular now), and if I ever have another I'd lobby, for Maria again.
