Heather in Neverland
Ok, I realize I am last to the party on this but it sometimes takes months before a movie makes it to the theaters here. At any rate, I just saw it tonight and it was SO GOOD!!!!! And that is so rare. Usually, I end up hating the movie version of a book (like Snow Flower and the Secret Fan...ugh, that was terrible). But I am really impressed with this one!
Jennifer in MI
You aren't the last to see it! I haven't yet. I've heard how good it was. My cousin and her kids were in the movie. Only one of her kids actually made the cut though. He was one of the kids sitting by the pool at the baby shower (? - I think - it was different in the bok). If you blinked, you'd miss him! It was filmed in their hometown.
Melinda in VT
Funny! I just saw both of these movies on my flight to Ireland this month. I thought they were both great, but it's been a while since I read The Help, and I haven't read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I'm with you in that I don't usually like movies adapted from books. AppleGreen
Dh and I just watched it over the weekend! Loved the book and thought the movie fantastic. Emma Stone (that's her name, right) can really play a range of characters. Minnie and Abilene (sp?) had great chemistry. We found the movie really funny and hopeful. Usually, I end up hating the movie version of a book :iagree: I really had no intentions of seeing it because I was certain they would ruin it. A friend talked me into going when it came out and I'm glad she it. I loved the movie and the casting.
Carol in Cal.
I agree--the movie was wonderful. I still liked the book better, but the movie was a pure pleasure, not different enough to be annoying, and beautifully filmed. My only quibble with it was that they whitewashed the mother so much relative to the book. But I could see why they did that.

reign
I loved the book and movie. I did find Emma Stone's hair to be distracting. I know she was supposed to have bad hair but come on! It looked so fake to me.
