fairfarmhand
they walked all the way down to the mailbox, picked up the package the carrier left next to the mail box, but didn't get the mail out of the box. Would you make them go back out and get the mail? Just wondering....

I was just wondering if I am off my nut. They looked at me like I was crazy when I asked where the mail was. (they are 13 and 9 if it matters.) fairfarmhand
How far is the mailbox? The drive way is 600 feet long. and the mailbox is on the other side of the road.
mamakimberly
Then, yes... it won't kill them. And it will hopefully teach them a lesson to do a job completely.

fairfarmhand
they are out there. This time the 2 siblings wanted to go so it is a field trip. I normally go, but I am recovering from a cold and cannot breathe. Simply climbing the stairs makes me short of breath.
Parrothead
Yes, if it were the 13- and 8-year old. I would have to ask you to consider laying off the cold meds if it were your 3- and 5-year olds. :D
mysticamethyst
It must be in the air, yesterday I sent my kids to Walgreens just down the road for milk, tea and some vapor bath for my youngest as a bonus told them they could each get a candy bar for dessert; all they came home with is candy. :glare: Yep, they walked back up to store for the forgotten milk, tea and vapor bath and still forgot to get the vapor bath. :glare:

I read this and automatically thought duh! They agreed to get the mail and that means actually getting all the mail, not just some of it. Was the package something exciting that distracted them? I could see doing that myself. :tongue_smilie:

ElizabethB
Was the package something exciting that distracted them? I could see doing that myself. :tongue_smilie: :iagree: My kids are more likely to actually get the mail when distracted by a package than me, they like getting the mail. Of course, ours is much closer.
In2why
Sure I would have them go back. Not as a punishment but because I asked them to get me the mail, and they didn't. They didn't think, no biggie, they are kids.
