Ginevra
I had to pick the one with "Chocolate liquor" as the leading ingredient. Doesn't that sound better?

MomOfOneFunOne
The reason I ask is this . . . I often have a cup of hot chocolate in the afternoon. I like to make it by shaving a square of chocolate into my cup or the little pot, pour in the milk, heat, drink, rejoice! I often use Exhibit A b/c I'm also anemic and one little cup of cocoa will give me 10% of RDA for iron. On the other hand, I like the ingredients list of Exhibit B better. Yet, I only get about 5% of my iron. See, chocolate is a necessary supplent for my condition. Really. And I want to choose the best one for, ahem, my condition. That's that big chunk of iron. Still, the other is a nicer list . . . hmmmm . . .
Parrothead
Anything with chocolate and alcohol is medicinal.
Slartibartfast
B but because I can't have milk, I would drink chocolate booze if there was no dairy.
happypamama
IIRC (and I might not be -- it's been a while since we took the Hershey "how they make chocolate" tour ride, though we probably average doing it a couple of times a year), the chocolate liquor is just part of the chocolate, so I am thinking it's just included where it says "unsweetened chocolate." I'm thinking that for hot chocolate, the milk powder is going to give a richer, fuller taste as well.

I don't think the ingredients for A are bad, but the one I'd prefer over B, given all other things are equal. Since they are not equal, don't fret - drink the chocolate liquor. :D

It's liquid chocolate, I'm guessing.:lol::lol: You are killing me . . . that would be an interesting chocolate bar! mmmmm and good for what ails me! HappyCrazyMama
Well, my answer was going to be that it depended whether the person consuming was in need of more dietary iron. OTOH, my recollection is that dairy inhibits iron absorption (I'd have to look it up to be certain), so hot chocolate may not be the best way to address the iron need anyway (though that doesn't stop me :D). That's what I thought too.:)

I don't think chocolate non-booze liquor would be very rich and chocolatey.

Slartibartfast
Herm...isn't it vitamin c that helps absorb iron? Maybe take a supplement with orange juice?

Gooblink
There didn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between the 2, so I chose the one with...more iron, yeah..need the iron. :)
carrie_irene
B. Less fake food. the liquor can be a fake food, it truly depends on each company what they are calling "chocolate liquor". Adding milk solids is never a great thing...usually containing oxidized cholesterol. So all else being equal, I would go for B. But really....right now, chocolate sounds about perfect in any way it might come! =)
Spy Car
B. If it has "milk" in it it it not "chocolate" in my book. Bill (lactose tolerant, except in chocolate :tongue_smilie:) Edited February 25, 2011 by Spy Car
MomOfOneFunOne
6 points plus. If that matters to you. That's 6 points per serving but it would be humanly impossible to eat that much dark chocolate in one sitting. It would be 1.5 points plus milk. soy milk. but no, I don't do weight watchers. LidiyaDawn
Neither - I don't like dark chocolate! Now, give me some reeses pieces and I'm happy. :D
MomOfOneFunOne
Well, I drink my hot chocolate with soy milk or almond milk so the absorption thing is less of a thing. ;) So it's still medicinal.
Nestof3
So what explains the difference in iron? 40% is huge! Truscifi
I would go with A for the iron. And the liquor doesn't hurt, even if it isn't really liquor. :tongue_smilie:

gardening momma
I accidentally picked B. I meant to pick A because it's not so dark. I like dark chocolate, and I prefer it over milk chocolate. But to eat it plain, I don't like it tooo dark.
Laurie4b
I chose other because they are so nutritionally equivalent, it wouldn't matter. I'd choose by taste. :tongue_smilie:
IsabelC
They both sound good to me, but only if they're organic/fairtrade/otherwise slave free. Can I have a Condition that requires regular chocolate??:D
Veritaserum
I chose B because I'm suspicious of anything made with milk powder (can hide things like MSG).
