  1. My mom made me one of those drape covers. I needed something to hide the belly flab.
  2. I've been known to spike my Diet Coke if I didn't have to drive the kids anywhere. :D
  3. We love Gap, but it isn't easy on the bank account. We shop the sale and clearance items and get cute shorts that are longer than their undies, lots of adorable t-shirts, cute sundresses, etc. We also shop Target and Macy's a lot.
  4. 11 seems to be our phone age. We don't have a home phone. Our girls are at the dance studio a lot. Especially when there are rehearsals for a performance. However, they are only there are the same day on Fridays. Usually one will stay home with their brother while I run the other to the studio. Without a home phone, it only works for everyone to have a cell. And texting is a must since Mommy doesn't like talking on the phone (I worked as a receptionist and then admin assistant who had to answer the phone so much that I don't like to anymore). ha ha!
  5. The duffel bag is the perfect ballet bag. When it gets stinky (with sweaty dance clothes and shoes) you can just wash it!
  6. Another Vera Bradley lover here. I love the Vera (each bag has a name) so much that I bought a second one for my laptop. Nice deep pockets around the sides (I think there are 6 or 8) and then open space to fit a magazine, book, skein of yarn, sippy cup, pull-up and an extra Diet Coke.
  7. Can you tell me how many pages are in an issue? Since there are only 4 a year, I don't want to buy it and then find that it doesn't hold my daughters' attention for long. ;)
  8. I named each of my kids with nicknames in mind. None of them go by their given names. Those are reserved for when they are in big trouble. Our oldest has a hispanic first name (named for my Abuela). When my very American DH uses her full name I usually end up with a bad case of the giggles.
  9. I don't have much experience with AWANAS (we are Catholic), but some good friends of ours go to a large Community Bible church. Their daughters are best friends with our daughters and have invited our girls to go with them several times (one even ended with a huge family-friendly dinner that we attended). Our friends are very careful to make sure no one tries to convert our daughters or offend them -- both parents are leaders there. Our daughters have so much fun! They love it! And their friends are looking forward to when our girls are in youth group at our church so they can go with them. :D We're just one big happy ecumenical homeschooling family around here.
  10. My daughters kept joking about stealing a sip of my wine. I usually drink sweet moscatto or reisling. One evening, DH and I were having shiraz with our dinner. I told the girls they could each have a sip of mine. They haven't joked about taking a sip of my wine since.;) Shiraz isn't my fav, but I do like red wine with pasta.
  11. Ditto. My 4 year old and I play "find me" and hide under the covers on my bed and wait for my daughters to find us. I wouldn't want to do that if the bed were made. :D
  12. I prefer mine with Nestle Quik and a few splashes of Kahlua.
  13. We started shots this month for my 12 year old. 4'8.75" -- she'll be 13 in June. My middle child has always been small (except for birth). She's 11 and 4'6". We actually noticed our oldest had quit growing because her sister was catching up with her. We aren't worried about the middle kid because she continues to grow, she's just on the small side.
  14. We love love love the Museum of Nature & Science in Fair Park. We take the kids quite a bit -- if you get a high enough membership, it will include a membership to The Heard in McKinney. Two museums for less than $200! Also, the Dallas Zoo -- we've had a museum since our oldest was born (or before). Love it! The Arboretum is great too! I used to have a membership there as well, but couldn't afford to keep three memberships so we let it drop and upped our Science one to include the Heard. There is a science place in Frisco now -- I haven't been, but have heard it's fun. How about something to to wear them out -- bowling! A lot of the area bowling alleys have lower daytime prices. They have bumpers and ramps so the 2 year old can do it too.
  15. We use whatever the dishwasher tablets are that Costco sells. Instead of a rinse agent, we pour vinegar in the rinse agent place. Works great! Our dishwasher is just a Kennmore. Nothing super-fancy, but not the plain one either. I think it was $400 or $500.
  16. I agree. There's one 5 minutes from my house. I have a Macy's card just for the extra discount they give you for using it. :auto:
  17. It looks like my closet threw up a DSW size 9 section. I have close to (or over) 100 pairs. Hi. My name is Veronica and I'm a shoe whore. I have not bought a pair of shoes (for myself) since January though. :D
  18. I would keep the date. Get that baby baptized! I'm sorry your mom is stressing you out when you are planning a joyous event. :grouphug:
  19. I've never seen a dog hammock! That is so fun! I want one for my doggie!
  20. Honestly, she's usually outside. If the weather is bad or too hot out we will lock her inside in her kennel. Otherwise, she can be found outside. If ever a dog was not fond of the great indoors, that would be our dog. :glare: Oh, we have to be careful locking her in -- it has to be really hot out or really bad weather. She's eaten the wall around her doggie door when locked in during nice weather. If she would have been the indoor dog we intended her to be, she would have one of those lovely pillowy doggie beds they sell at Costco. Hopefully a pretty red one. A mom can dream...right?:D
  21. My older brother and sister taught me. My brother is 14 months older than me and my sister is 3 years older than me. I didn't get my license until I was 18, but was taught by my two older siblings who are bad drivers. It took 3 tries for me to pass my test. :glare: Please make sure that whatever method you use, you teach well, make sure your kid understands the rules of the road and that they don't find out from their spouse that it is not legal to turn around in the middle of a city street (though I do it on our residential street multiple times a day). :tongue_smilie:
  22. They make me giggle to myself. I can't help it. But I have a couple of friends who wear them.
  23. When mine was long (almost to my waist, curly/wavy) I wore it down or in a ponytail.
  24. It was $25 at mine too. It's still in the back of my CR-V. I have plans for it, but it includes changing the dining room from scrapbook/craft explosion to school room/craft room. Right now the two dining room tables look like Hobby Lobby, Micheal's and Stampin' Up! threw up. Back on topic, check in store to see if it's cheaper where you live. Unless you don't have a store near you.
