melissel
DD8 has been through the wringer with a stomach virus the last few days. She was OK but droopy all day yesterday, and last night was the first night in 3 or 4 that she wasn't up a few times, throwing up (or otherwise). Tonight she has a trampoline and climbing class at 5:00. Would you take her, or let her sit this week out? Does it change anything to know that we haven't gone in three weeks because of the weather? (We have SO many make-ups to schedule!) TIA!
thescrappyhomeschooler
I probably would not take her and let her body build itself back up a little. Some things, like the weather and illness, just mess up all your good plans! :tongue_smilie:
TKDmom
It usually takes me a day or two of not being sick to have any energy after a stomach virus. I vote for keeping her home. But...if she was bouncing off the wall, I'd go ahead and take her.
FriedClams
No. Let her rest. Read a book. Relax.
Jen in PA
Another vote for keeping her home. Even if her worst symptoms are gone, I'm guessing she will be weak and have a hard time concentrating. More rest can only help.
----
I would let her stay home and rest.
alpidarkomama
Yet another vote for keeping her home. Last thing she needs is a relapse! :)
LidiyaDawn
Mine always bounce back quick - once they're done being sick, they're done and wanting to get on with life...so yes, we'd probably go if the sickie was better. :)
Tammyla
No, I'd keep her home too.
shinyhappypeople
In situations like these, I let my kids decide. They're pretty good about telling me when/if they don't feel up to doing an activity.

LibraryLover
I would not take an 8 yr old who was not feeling perfect to gymnastics
tmulcahy
Another vote for keeping her home. Not only do you want to avoid a relapse but her immune system is already fighting this illness, the last thing she needs is to get hit with another virus when her defenses are down. Hope she recovers soon.
Mejane
Nope, too energy-intensive. Perhaps if it was sewing class. ;)
katilac
I would keep her home for her own safety and as a courtesy to the other kids. Vomiting is most often caused by viruses, which are highly contagious for days after symptoms disappear. Frequent handwashing is a huge help, of course, but gymnastics is very "hands on," someone might grab her water bottle by mistake, etc, and just I wouldn't take the chance. She hasn't been sick since last night, but she's been at home, resting - very different from going to gymnastics. The activity could easily cause her to throw up again. dirty ethel rackham
Nope. My rule is back to somewhat normal for 24 hours (and droopy is not what I would call normal.) I would feel bad about missing so much, but it isn't worth it to put more stress on an already run down system as well as consideration for other parents if she could relapse.
