Guest Cheryl in SoCal
How old were you when menopause was over and you were period free?
ccm
I'm 54. It's WONDERFUL not having to think about a monthly visitor!
Tree House Academy
I can't vote, because I have not reached menopause. However, I am in perimenopause at only 31 - it happens early in my family. My mom was finished with menopause at 45 or so. I will be glad when it is over. I am curious to see how many votes the younger ages get. Lawana
Unfortunately, at 51 I can't vote yet.:glare: After 39 years and counting, I can't wait to move on to the next phase of life.

Corraleno
I gave birth to DS at 41 and went straight from pregnancy into menopause; I was post-menopausal at 43. It was a very rough pregnancy and delivery and my body just shut down afterward; my cycles never returned. I suppose the silver lining was that I never went through the usual symptoms of menopause — no night sweats, crazy hormones, mood swings, etc. (although I had a clingy, colicky baby and severe sleep deprivation!). By the time DS was two and we'd recovered enough to try again, it was all over. :( Jackie

love2read
My mom started having symptoms in her 40s and was in her mid 60s when she had her last cycle. Yah, something to think about.

Guest Cheryl in SoCal
You should have perhaps added younger ages. I am not but my mother was at my age (36). Wow, I thought putting the age down to 40 was wishful thinking. I'm an RN so you'd think I'd have more of a clue but when I worked the mean age of my patients was 80 so it wasn't something I dealt with, and I don't remember anything about menopause in nursing school. dancer67
Does it usually come close to when your mom goes through menopause? My mother was 48. I am 43. I hope it's true!!
JFSinIL
At 51 and a half I am flashing often :D during the night, skipped one cycle, but still waiting for it all to end.
HollyDay
I technically can't vote either. I've not had a period since July.
RoughCollie
I had heart surgery when I was 46. Before surgery, I had normal cycles. Afterwards, nothing -- including no hot flashes or other symptoms. Something about that surgery flipped the switch. Virg
I'm 29 and terrified because I am not done having children (only had twins at 18) and my mom never had a period after my little brother was born at 32! I am praying I have a little more time than that :)
Bokons
I am going to be 41 this month, and I am peri-menopausal as well. The longest I have been between periods was about 5 months so far. I do get hot flashes sometimes and night sweats once in a while.
Liz CA
I was exactly 42 and it happened on September 28. Went to sleep and woke up without ever having a period again. Okay, I admit it, I should not participate in this poll because mine was surgical. Edited January 10, 2011 by Liz CA
DarcyB
I'm 55. Haven't had a period in over a year. This is the official definition of menopause. Peri-menopause is the long period of time as our bodies begin changing, again.
