fairfarmhand
This is weird...but anytime I cook a big meal, like for Thanksgiving or for company, i sit down, and I am just not that hungry. It's not that I nibble the whole time I cook either. I taste very little while I cook. It is just not appealing to me by the time I sit down. I don't have this problem with our normal "simpler" meals. Just the big meals that require a lot of prep time. Anyone else like that? Or am I just weird? dangermom
You've done what they call dining off the smell. I do it sometimes too. By the time I get done with all the prep, I've had a surfeit of that stuff and feel almost like I've already eaten it.
Unicorn.
I'm that way. I think it's being around the smells for so long. I worked in a restraunt in high school, and lost a lot of weight because I ate less after being around food cooking all the time! :D Hmmm, maybe I should go back to work!
Mejane
Maybe that's why I eat such a tiny amount compared to what everyone else eats. Who knew?

NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
Yes. By the time I sit down with everyone, I've lost my appetite. K
Mothersweets
Yes, that happens all the time with me! I only wish the effect would last throughout the evening. Sometime around 9pm I'm hungry and I just can't stop snacking.
RoughCollie
It happens to me all the time. The only time I have a big appetite for food is when someone else cooks it.
gardening momma
Not me. I can eat after I cook a big meal. :001_smile:
MariannNOVA
Me, I can't eat after I've spent hours preparing a holiday meal.:001_smile: It's not weird, it's just us!;)
mcconnellboys
I do this even with simpler meals and so seldom eat dinner at night. I think working with raw meat also sort of turns me off to eating.... I've never been that big on meat eating, anyway, and when I was young and started working in my family's grocery business, the meat department was the first place they put me. Being around raw meat is pretty much a turn off for me. For the past few years, I've been buying more locally produced, free range meats, and that has made some difference for me, but I still tend not to eat after cooking.... Jen in PA
Spending lots of time cooking always diminishes my appetite, too.

cermincantik
That's me. Lost appetite immediately after cooking.
JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
Yup-prepping big meals ends my hunger. Also cooking desserts. If I have a dish I know so well that there is no stress in measuring or how to prep, is it cooked through type questions I can sometimes eat that. PinkInTheBlue
I usually do not love to eat after I cook. Yes, it's worse after I cook a big meal or a meal really involving the manipulation of meat much. :)
justamouse
me. I never enjoy T day dinner until the next day when I get a plate of leftovers.
