jentancalann
Ooh, not me. DS 9 came downstairs a little while ago after going to the bathroom and described what he saw. I guess we'll go to the dr. tomorrow. Sheets are in the washer being bleached right now. Google is not my friend tonight.

specialmama
You mean, you can SEE them? I didn't think you could see pinworms with the naked eye...
KathyBC
Yes. You can see them with the naked eye. But I don't want to talk about it. :tongue_smilie:

Janie Grace
We had them about a month ago. Saw them on two kids but treated the whole family (per the doctor's recommendation). THE MOST DISGUSTING PARENTING EXPERIENCE EVER. Yuck!!!!!!
Peela
I just treat them every few months- it's not such a big deal. I notice that when they get grumpy- or any of us for that matter- a dose of worming medication can do wonders for the temperament!

Peela
Is this an over-the-counter product? Yes, here in Australia you can buy worming medication over the counter easily. You can even get chocolate flavoured stuff ;)

Or better yet how do we not get them, because my kids are into everything and if this is on the horizon I am only amazed we haven't seen them yet. kalanamak
When I was a teeny bopper, I named mine "Edgar Winter", because of the 70's album "They Only Come Out At Night".

Apparently you can pick them anywhere, like you pick up a virus. I'm sure google told you more than you'd like to know. Dh found out that 1 in 8 people in the US have them per year. I think handwashing is key to not getting them.
Tree House Academy
This was my biggest fear when my ds11 was 4 and I had a newborn. I remember getting out the flashlight, sneaking in his room while he was asleep...My dh still makes fun of me for that!
Peela
It sounds gross but its really no big deal. Most animals have parasites- us included. The most common physical symptom is an itchy bottom. Keeping kids' nails cut short is another way of preventing transmission....when they scratch their butt, the eggs get under nails. At night time, the little critters come out to play, so you can actually see them. But, if you notice your kids scratching down there a lot, it is likely to be worms.
