DesertDweller
He has watched it along with a few others like it. He did make fun of some of the things in Pride & Prejudice, but he likes to get us laughing. He's a good sport about it. To be fair, I've sat through a few too many westerns, war movies and the like that he wanted to watch. We give him a hard time (in fun, of course) because we've sat through Rio Bravo with John Wayne way too often. LOL
Brenda in FL
My dh will watch all the Jane Austin films with me and anything on Masterpiece Classic!! However - - he absolutley hated Chocolat.
Erica in OR
Mine has watched bits and pieces. Over all the times I've watched them, it might have added up to a whole "watch" for him. One that he did watch with me and liked was Lost in Austen. It still has the romantic bits, but a lot of comedic twists thrown in. Mom-ninja.
No. I watch alone with chocolate. :)
Imprimis
I'm getting jealous. Janet Don't feel bad. It wouldn't be my dh's cup o' tea, either. He's more of a James Bond guy. My 14 yo dd and I watch Jane Austen together.
eaglei
Nope.
In the Rain
Absolutely! He'd even watch something cheesy, just to sit with me. He is sweet like that. :001_wub:
BamaTanya
but he has surprised me (pleasantly) before. =) I am so blessed that my dds now watch chick flicks with me.
Harriet Vane
Yep. It's not really his thing, but he watches them for me. :001_wub:
SquirrellyMama
He has watched some of it but usually asks me if I'm "going to watch pompus britsh movies again?" That's ok. I tell him he's reading soft core porn when he's got his comic books out. We just make fun of what the other person is reading or watching. It's fun. forty-two
My dh actually has come to like the BBC Pride and Prejudice :tongue_smilie:. Otherwise, we have similar tastes in movies, so there usually is no problem. But on things like Ever After and Conan the Barbarian, we kinda have a quid pro quo thing going. lovemyboys
Exactly. My husband said it was a great "character study". He would never sit and watch dribbly romances with me. Come to think of it, *I* wouldn't sit and watch dribbly romances. I guess there's a reason God gave me all boys. :tongue_smilie: Dh enjoys P&P for the intelligent writing and characters, the acting by Firth and Ehle. He likes the BBC adaptations of JA, as well as Emma and S&S movies. He'll watch other period pieces with me, he liked N&S probably because it's strong the way JA is strong. Otherwise, he prefers period pieces a la Master and Commander. We both love action/adventure. He'll watch some scifi with me. Dc make him watch way more Star Wars than he normally would. He's a good sport.
TravelingChris
We both like JA movies or shows since they are funny. He also watched another chick flick that was funny but that is because we like funny,.
Nestof3
Yes, Sense and Sensibility is his second favorite movie (after You've Got Mail). He loves all of the Jane Austen and similar British films.
Delighted3
I don't think he hates them, but he doesn't ask to watch them and once is enough. Now when I watch them, he'll come in the room and say "You're watching that again?" Of course, he tells everyone what a great husband he is because he has even watched Jane Austen movies with me. I think that is funny. Joy
Spy Car
Jane Austin? No problem. Rather enjoyable fair. But Thursday night 9 pm Pacific time, I'm looking for ANYTHING I CAN FIND to do....'cause I ain't watching Gray's Anatomy :D Not gonna do it  Bill (has limits :tongue_smilie:)
unsinkable
Pride and Prejudice with you? Or anything Jane Austen? My dh is pretty good - he has watched Chocolat several time while I drool over Johnny Depp. But he will not watch any Jane Austen with me. And after all the football games I've watched with him. So do any of you have a dh who watched those feminine type, romantic shows? Janet Thank goodness I have 5 girls or I'd be all alone. My husband wouldn't watch that. He also doesn't like live theatre or live music, which I adore. After all the hockey games, football games, and baseball games (mostly live) I've watched with him! I try to keep up with current sports events (read sports page, watch SportsCenter) so we're on the same page but he never would reciprocate. And I have 2 boys & one girl. And one neutered dog.
momof2boys
My husband is really good about watching those type of movies with me. I watch the action packed movies with him also.
