I was wondering if anyone does/has done lapbooks in highschool for history and the sciences? I am going to incorporate lapbooks in with US/American history and Chemistry this year. I have always used lapbooks with my boys in elementary and middle school. I had not planned on doing lapbooks this year but my son wanted to know if we could do lapbooks with history and science. He told me that he remembered things better when we did lapbooks. So now I guess I will be spending the weekend coming up with lapbook ideas. Just wondering if anyone else has done this for HS. I think you may be right. I have been trying to do to much the last few days. I have been trying to keep the laundry done and do some light cooking. I have been hurting more and last night I hurt most of the night. My husband and boys have been great to me before and since the surgery and have done most everything for the last 4 months( I was having problems before the hysterectomy). But they are starting to complain about having to do the laundry and cooking so I thought I could do those things this week but guess what I can't. I told my husband this morning that I am not going to do those things for another couple of weeks. I am afraid if I keep doing things I am going to really hurt something. I talked to my Dr. and he said if I hurt not to do anything. That while most people do heal completely in 6 weeks, I am not most people. He stated that he had a difficult time getting my uterus, cervix, ovaries out and that having such a low blood counts would make me heal slower. I also told my husband that he and the boys are just going to have to be patient for a little while longer. -

Liz, I have everything taken out. I have been on a hormone patch since surgery. From the research I have done today as far as the insomnia and weepiness goes, I think that the dosage of the hormone patch I have is to high and I need to have a lesser dosage. I am going to wait 2 more weeks like the nurse suggested but if it is not better by then I am going to tell the Dr. that I want it lowered. I am also considering not using the patch for awhile and see how it goes. I have talked to some other people and they have not used any HRT at all and they had the same type of hysterectomy I did. Thanks, Gloria -
I had to have a total hysterectomy 6 weeks ago tomorrow and I am still hurting. I had it lap. assisted vag. My H&H was pretty low before surgery and even lower after surgery. It was so low that they wanted to do a blood transfusion but I said NO WAY. So I am also dealing with a lot of fatgue from this. I am taking iron supplements, so I know eventually it will get back to normal. But I thought I would be up and doing my daily routine by now. However, that is not the case. While I do feel better each week it just seems like it is taking the pain a long time to go away. My Dr. also started me on a hormone patch right after surgery. I have not been able to sleep very well at all since surgery and I over the weekend I have started to cry for no reason quite often. I feel just BLAH! Has anyone had a hysterectomy? IF so what was your experience ? I am sure this probably sounds rambly and I am sorry but it is just how I am feeling right now. Thanks for any advice, Gloria

I think that the Beautiful Feet guides are excellent for studying history using literature. It is also cheaper than Sonlight and just as good in our experience. My 2 cents worth :) Gloria -
Has anyone used the Life of Fred series for Algebra? If so what are your opinions of the program? Thanks, Gloria

Okay my son is going into the 11th grade this fall and I am trying to get my plans finalized before my upcoming surgery in about a week. I am looking at using Sonlight but have some questions. Question number 1..has anyone used there 20th century world history and if so how did you like it? Question number 2...how is the language arts? Question number 3...I have looked at using Alternate World History but wondered what I could add to it to make it more highschool usable...any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to read this and help me out! Gloria
