  1. I use A Child's Seasonal Treasury, Wynstone's Kindergarten Series, Oak Meadow Preschool, and A Journey Through Waldorf Homeschooling Kindergarten for ideas for my dd5. I also have Seven Times the Sun and Beyond the Rainbow Bridge. I use Oak Meadow 6 with my dd12, and my ds10 uses a unit study. We paint with watercolors (wet on wet) every Tuesday. This year I am going to try to incorporate the festival celebrations and have related crafts and foods.
  2. Gotta love boys! :) When my oldest son and his friends were in middle school, they used to perform wrestling maneuvers on our backyard trampoline, you know, like WWE. I had to video them a couple of times. They would dress up in masks, tights, etc. and run out to heavy metal music. Of course I was holding in my laughter b/c I got in "trouble" if I laughed. Great times!
  3. Currently, I have three at home. Now, in the K-2 class I'll teach at co-op, I'll probably have around 10.
  4. Doctor's office visits are field trips. Teacher Work Days are spent at the park. Yoga pants and T-shirts are required attire for the teacher. ;)
  5. Late 80's and early 90's music takes me back to my teen years...riding around with my boyfriend, hanging out with my best friends, cheerleader practice, being young and carefree. :)
  6. Dear Best Friend, Thank you for babysitting my children tonight so hubby and I could have a much needed date night.
  7. We used to school year round, but now we do an early August through late May/early June schedule. It is similar to our local ps calendar. We plan to start on Aug. 12.
  8. No, you're not nuts! :) We love Halloween, too, ever since we started putting together our own costumes & dressing as characters from the same movie, book, TV show, etc. Last year, we were all Batman characters. In the past, we've been Scooby Doo characters and characters from The Wizard of Oz. This year I think we're all going to be wrestlers from Impact Wrestling. Can't wait!
  9. Yes, I am. I started this morning, and I feel totally wiped out now. And I haven't done anything other than the usual caring for the children and typical housework, plus all of us went to get haircuts. But I feel like just crashing!
  10. Yes!!! This. My ds10 acts this song out and it cracks me up every time. I really need to video him & post it. It's great.
  11. Absolutely wouldn't change my name. And good for your hubby for standing his ground.
  12. Cranberry Thanksgiving, also reprinted by Purple House Press.
  13. Hey, if mine can find something to be excited about, then there's hope for everyone! :)
  14. I am so ready! I am ready for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. October-December is my favorite time of year. No panic here, just anticipation and excitement. :)
  15. Oh my goodness, my ds10 is just like this right now. It started a couple of months ago. He has what appears to be panic attacks at bedtime. We have a routine now of family time and a read-aloud before bedtime. Then he brushes his teeth and we say prayers. He is fine as long as hubby and I are still awake, but if we've had a late night and are all going to bed at the same time, then he panics. So we try to make sure he's in bed at least an hour before we plan to go to bed ourselves. We also have material for a pallet on our bedroom floor, so ds10 can come lay it all out without waking us and sleep in our room. He averages coming in to our room every other night. This works for us right now.
  16. In her own words, "so excited" about learning Spanish this year. This kid hasn't been excited about school since our Five in a Row years! That is all.
  17. No advice, because I am right there with you. :(
