Enjoy your trip with your DH! What an opportunity!! You and your parents can get an app like Line to stay connected with each other. As long as you have WIFI access, you can exchange messages, make free phone calls, and send pictures.

Hi! English is my second language, so I apologize for grammatical errors in advance... I agree with everything above posters said. It all varies, even if it's the same CC, AP, or other university courses, whether it fits to your child depends on your child personality and numerous other factors. I have DS14 who takes some DE classes at our local CC. We choose this route by talking to family friends (with experience), examining his future career field, and reading every section of CC's website as well as my DS's "would be nice to get in" colleges' websites. Familiarize yourself with each college's requirements give you some ideas of what needs to be done during middle school and high school years. That being said, OP, I also have DD11 who is very similar to how you described your DD. She wants to go to a college eventually, but she has no idea what she wants to study. Yes, I know she's only 11, but it would be much easier if she shows some interests in something!! She dances most days a week at pre-professional level and she plays piano at high level as well. But she knows she won't be a professional dancer nor a music major student at college. All she wants to be at this point is a stay at home mom and homeschooling her children. Although that's so flattering to hear as a mom, I feel very lost in planning her academic career. So, I spend a lot of time coming here and read, read, and read more :)

Good luck and have fun!!

I would stay close to San Ramon if she can afford it. Sounds like she should be able rent in Dublin/Pleasanton or Walnut Creek area. Just make a weekend day trip to Oakland or SFO by BART.

Stridex! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!! -
Rice porridge cooked in water or broth. Add some protein like eggs, leftover meat, seafood, or cooked beans. You can also add a handful of kale, spinach, mushrooms, and other veggies.

Long length cardigan (covers your bottom) + blanket scarf (somewhat covers your front) would look cute with leggings :)

How about play tent or play tunnel? With a flash light, blanket, and/or pillow-pets :)

Manipulatives for teaching fractions, area and volume?
Elastimom replied to tld's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
If you are looking for something basic, you can get multi-colored plastic tiles or blocks. But you can also use what you have around the house. you can use a thin paper plate (or round coffee filter, strips of paper, etc) and fold/cut and write 1/2,1/4,1/8, and so on. You can also use a box of granola bars (or whatever you may have). If there are 10 bars in the box, each bar is 1/10. You eat 1/10, there are 9/10 left in the box. 10/10 makes a whole which is 1=100% and such. Also, you can use coins to show how fraction works. Just about anything can be a good manipulative in the house :) If you are looking for something more than basic skills, I'd like to suggest Key to Fractions workbooks. -

Best online Robotic/programming/coding programs
Elastimom replied to Rush's topic in Accelerated Learner Board
Hello! My DS has attended several local robotics classes, but he has never taken any online robotics classes. Now he has EV3 and just plays with it at home. We have borrowed some books about Lego Robotics from the local library and he also watches YouTube for some ideas. -
We have Our Generation doll from Target that we got several years ago. It's a good doll, but you cannot comb or style the hair. We tried all the tricks to get the hair nice and smooth, but none of them worked. We got another 18" doll from Toysrus called Journey Girls doll last Christmas and the hair is so very soft, and you can actually comb and style the hair. It still looking as beautiful as the day we got it.

Activities for kids to give mom a break?
Elastimom replied to Stibalfamily's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Marble Run toys. DIY Marble Run with T.P tubes, paper-towel tubes, and other recycle materials around the house. Matchbox play sets. Exchange a large box of no-so-sentimental toys with a friend. Someone's toys are much more interesting, for a few days :) -
Congratulations!

Diapers and wipes are so expensive! I just signed the paper for DS's braces earlier this week.... And he needs a laptop before the school starts.
