  1. some AP courses are typically/tradtionally only a semester long and perhaps for these 0.5 credit would be appropriate: AP US Government and Politics AP Macroeconomics AP Microeconomics there may be a few others. Most of the AP courses are full year (two semesters). Mark
  2. So basically a self-paced online Physics class with a lab - that would be very hard to find. My suggestion - contact your CC to see if they would allow you cover the course material self-paced and take mid-term(s) and finals through them in June (pay tuition etc) and get credit. Maybe you could squeeze the labs in now. Worth a phone call. Did your student attend a live class for the CC last semester or was it online? Mark
  3. I think the OP is looking for an actual college credit course (I may be wrong).
  4. some previous threads http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/202901-ap-world-history-self-study/ http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/21955-world-history-curriculum-ap-level/ http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/518673-teaching-ap-history-courses-here-are-my-tips-tricks/ FYI the AP exam was modified since these posts were made.
  5. U of Rochester thread That's why colleges need a strong "Board of Directors" (not sure of what they are called in academia) that can do a public reprimand of that behavior and get things refocused, ============================================================== Our local CC went through a bunch of grief and accreditation issues ( 2 years of probation) due to the board's mishandling of sexual harassment complaints against the former Chancellor. IMHO it had nothing to do with the CC academics and should not have brought in the accreditor,
  6. The DO Honors Physics would be a step up from the Clover Creek material (but not huge) and may be appropriate for students not wanting or ready to do AP Physics. In general, I think IMHO that a future STEM major should look at AP or equivalent Physics material after Clover Creek.
  7. Once again I would like to add folks here would be willing to help you put some of this material together. Many have specialties and talents. At least you could of consider starting that way to see how it goes. Mark
  8. She is still very young. Looking way ahead is she/you thinking about majoring in a STEM field in college? Good that you are planning early so you don't need to rush your decisions! Mark
  9. your UB link did not work maybe this one: http://advising.buffalo.edu/advisors/newstudentreg/faq.php I was curious since I almost went there (many years ago).
  10. Do they provide a real-life teacher for each class or are you referring to previously recorded video presenter?
  11. Being a little lazy myself - I would find some free placement tests for the assessment instead of creating a final - I would use different sources which would probably overlap. Send a PM if you want some more details. Mark
  12. AND the good folks here in the WTM forums could help you out with specific course recommendations etc.
  13. May 1 is National College Decision Day. I agree in but the schools seem to use available housing and other items to help "coerce" students to make them decide earlier.

  15. Looks like ABET is the only CS accrediting org. http://www.schoolsintheusa.com/ComputerScienceAccreditation.cfm https://www.computersciencezone.org/importance-of-computer-science-program-accreditation/ https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/science-majors/1084622-abet-accreditation-for-computer-science.html back in my college days (don't ask when that was) I think there used to be some ACM guidelines and CS program informal process. https://www.acm.org/education/curricula-recommendations
  16. might be cheaper to just get some clothes at Salvation Army, TJ Maxx, etc - especially winter clothing! Massachusetts only charges sales tax on high cost clothing items " Clothing is generally exempt from the sales tax. However, any individual clothing item that costs more than $175 is taxable on the amount it goes over $175. Thus, the tax on a $200 suit would be $1.56 (which is 6.25% of the taxable $25 difference). "
  17. I would accept it if even considering that school you can always turn them down later in fact one of the schools my son was interested in said to accept any scholarship offer and then decline it later if you decide to go elsewhere Aid and acceptances are "rolling" but you need to accept the aid in the "offer" window
  18. I bought one for DS at Walmart black friday last Nov in anticipation for this coming Fall sem.
  19. most of the threads are about specific subjects such as History or Calculus Do you plan on starting next "fall"? Mark
