  1. Not crazy. I got dh a microwavable dish to microwave bacon in for the mornings he has to be at work super early. I thought he likes bacon and he would surely want to eat it on his run out the door mornings too. He got it in his stocking on St. Nicholas Day and was quite excited about it.
  2. Does she like coffee?? We used to always get dh's grandmother a very nice brand of coffee. Now we always get her an outfit from the only clothing designer she wears.
  3. I recently went to a Target looking for a specific toy. I check online and it said it was in stock at the store. When I couldn't find it on the shelf I explained to an employee that it was suppose to be in stock and asked if he could check in the back, a normal and reasonable request I think. I did all this in a calm voice and was not irritated at all. He took a really long time to get back and when he did his demeanor was very different. It was if he was afraid to tell me that they didn't have the item in the back. But he told me and I simply said, "ok thank you for checking. Have a good day" and started on my way. His face changed entirely after hearing my response. It was as if he was expecting me to go ape sh*t on him and blame him for the website being wrong and him not finding it. I feel sorry that they would think that behaving that way was normal and to be expected. He obviously gets it enough, at least around this time, to be on guard. It's really sad. I can't understand why people treat each other so poorly.
  4. I wouldn't be worrying about sending an rsvp at all. There is nothing wrong with sending one of course but you planned the date together to fit your schedule so she already knows you are coming.
  5. We are celebrating dh's first day off of work on a Saturday in 2 months on a trip to the Franklin Institute! So we'll likely be leaving shortly after breakfast, spending a few hours there, having lunch somewhere in Philly, and then coming home. But we may make an entire day of Philly if we think of something else. I love living 40 minutes from a big city!
  6. I don't know I get both sides. I really don't mind people talking to my kids at all but there are certainly times when a red flag goes off for whatever reason so I intervene, I'm not going to ever ignore that red flag, it saved me from an abduction as a child and likely has saved me in ways I don't know. Even if your friend was entirely normal and innocent if I misinterpreted it at all or something told me something was off I would have been that mom. I wouldn't have gotten irritated and would try not to appear like I didn't want him talking to my kids but i would get in between the kid and him somehow.
  7. I would say almost any commercial I see now a days in the evenings is more tasteless than this one. I don't see the problem with this one at all
  8. Well I'm a Catholic Christian who follows the Church's teachings. But I know many non Catholic Christians who do not consider me a Christian so my label of myself would not satisfy them so it is impossible to put a proper label on things that everyone will be happy with.
  9. Our states healthcare for kids is fantastic! They charge a monthly fee depending on income so either $0, $5, $15, or $20 per month, which isn't per child either. They have covered everything 100% since the birth of my oldest 6 years ago, even specialists for when my dd was born with a hole in her heart and needed to be seen quite regularly. I don't feel guilty about being on it at all because healthcare insurance costs are simply impossible for us to afford on our own and dh's job doesn't offer anything. It may get really bad starting in 2015 because one of the insurance providers they are contracted with doesn't have a contract with the children's hospital in the area. Luckily, we have the option of the other provider but I imagine everyone will want the other provider and they won't be able to offer it to everyone.
  10. Foodwise, when I work out early I only eat an orange before the workout or else I feel way too full before hand. The Orange gives me enough energy to get through the workout. It will be tough at first but your stomach and body will get used to the orange or whatever small fruit you pick. Afterwards I make sure to eat a protein and fat rich breakfast of usually eggs and avocado. I also add a butt load of sautéed veggies to any eggs I have in the morning.
  11. Today will be a better day!!! -get school done -leave kids at parents' for overnight!!! -laundry put away -upstairs rooms cleans and vacuumed -wrap more gifts -call bank to have online banking unlocked -spend an hour reading for pleasure!
  12. I said or. But if they introduced themselves as er I would call them that because it is the name they go by, unless it's because of an accent that they replace -or with -er, then I'd pronounce it the way I know it as.
  13. I have some money to spend in google play. I'm looking. For suggestions for good educational apps and teaching resources. My oldest is in first but I also teach my third grade nephew.
  14. -Ds, almost 2, asked to go pee again this evening, and did so successfully on the potty! Maybe he really is ready to start trying regularly. Perhaps I'll see during Christmas break. -My sister shipped Christmas presents to my house because she lives far away. The box was HUGE and occupied my children for quite some time.
  15. Food budget and decluttering is what I work on in December prior to Christmas. During Christmas break I focus on the entire budget and any savings, debt payment, and big purchases goals for the year.
  16. I finished on November 29th! It's the earliest I've ever been done. I wanted to be done by Advent. Problem is, I'm not impatiently waiting for Christmas!
  17. Housework that I should be doing while reading the board! Today is was folding and putting away laundry.
  18. The article implied that in this case it was because when the parents divorced the divorce decree likely mentioned both parent's obligations for future educational expenses. If the parents legally agreed to pay for her education together the court is within their right to force them to uphold that part of the divorce decree.
  19. At the university I'm speaking of this is not the case at the moment, or course that could change. You do need to be employed for 2 years if you want to try to win the tuition exchange lottery the offer with other out of state universities. But for their normal tuition remission it goes into effect when your other benefits go into effect.
  20. Phonics Pathways! When it seems to get boring I just turn the word lists into games. My kids have all requested I teach them to read at 3.5 so I pulled it out then and went at whatever pace they wanted. My almost 6 year old will be done it by Feb. My 4.5 year old has been on the same three letter word page for months. She is not confident that she can read but wants to be able to. However, every time I try to help her she just says she can't and will throw a fit if I push it. So she clearly is not ready for it even though she says she it.
  21. They can do laprascoptic surgery and in most cases the baby and pregnancy will not be effected. There can of course be complications that would result in them needing to deliver the baby so doctors and nurses specifically for the baby will likely already be in the room and prepped for if that happens.
  22. We have been having a particularly difficult start to the week. All 3 kids have seemed to forget how to treat each other kindly. 2 year old has been hitting the other 2 nonstop, the other 2 can't seem to understand that when 2 year old whines at them or say no it means he doesn't want them doing whatever they are doing, older 2 are arguing and screaming at each other every chance they get, and my old 6 year old has started ignoring me completely and lying to me!! I don't really know what to do so I've been in full own parenting mode and all other responsibilities have been forgotten! Pray that we find a solution to these issue soon because the stress is having an affect on my body and our household!
  23. Dh and I have been married 7 years and have had kids for 6 of those years. We both used to make it to about day 4 of vacation before we were done with the other person and started bickering over the craziest things. Two things have really helped fix that. 1. Getting out by yourself for a few hours sometime around day 4. Each of us takes a day to do our own thing and recharge from all the commotion of all being off our normal routines. 2. Explaining to dh ahead of the vacation break that I'm fine with letting the routine at home go for the most part but if the house becomes too chaotic for me then I need everyone's help to get it back in order, at least before he goes back to work. If we all make the mess together and we are both on vacation then we all clean it up together before that vacation is over. Now we still bicker about silly things but its not as often and it certainly doesn't get anyone upset.
