  1. Oh I know. We are in a location where the local University is very generous with their tuition remission so faculty and staff both get it. Even part time employees get partial tuition remission. Of course this could change at any time, hence the not banking on it as the only option. But if it is a viable option when my children are nearing college years I will gladly take the job to help make their college years easier.
  2. I should add.. they've had boosters, front facing harnessed seats, and rear facing infant seats in the very back with no issue.
  3. My parents had a 2012 until is got totaled, they now have a 2013. They have car seats in it all the time because of having 14 grandchildren. We have never had any issue with installing them properly.
  4. We aren't planning on putting anything away for their college. Our first priority is getting the mortgage paid off so when college comes we will have more money after bills are paid. We will be encouraging our children to start saving for their future at young ages so they understand that while we are here for support and help it is their responsibility. We'll contribute what we deem fair and doable when the time comes. We also may choose the route my parents took. They both worked at local colleges that offered free tuition as a benefit. I would be more than willing to work in a job specifically to get free tuition for myself, my husband and my children.
  5. Hmm that depends on what you mean by half-hour late😠my dh is supposed to get off work at 9:30 and he only works a mile away from home. I've learned this actually means 10 because he always has something else to do after his last class is over. So if he were ever later than 10 I would expect a text. He usually sends one unless he is talking to his boss.
  6. Yesterday my almost 2 year old asked to pee and ran to the bathroom. I've never once talked about going in the toilet but that didn't Stop him from peeing in it last night! I know this is merely the beginning of this potty training bit but I'm excited he initiated it entirely by himself.
  7. I feel stuck right now and have for a long time for one reason or another. My situation is not nearly as difficult sounding as yours though. I hope you find some relief soon. The many reasons that cause me to feel stuck are things I have just had to cope with and realize they are not permanent. Right now they feel permanent because dh and I can do nothing to change them but eventually that will not be the case. I just have to live life reminding myself they aren't permanent. And until we can get past it, I give myself full permission to be pissed off about it every now and then, or to just say f* it and not do any housework for the day so I can get the break I need.
  8. Have your kid do the work and send it in with a note explaining the ridiculousness of assigning homework to parents and that silly projects like this should be done by the student or if the teacher is so eager for such projects she should do them herself.
  9. Well I got a good portion of what I wanted to do done today. Back pain prevented me from accomplishing it all. Tomorrow morning I will sweep and mop before Mass
  10. One year I decided that going into my parent's room and peaking would be an awesome idea! I knew mom hadn't wrapped anything yet so it would be easy. While going through bags I noticed one gift I was particularly excited that she got me! Then Chirstmas morning rolls around and I never get that present I saw. I was really upset but obviously didn't say anything or else she would know I peeked. Fast forward to May and my siblings and I are playing a game of hide and seek. I decide to hide in a bathroom that had not been functioning for MANY months. In that room were 2 bags filled with wrapped presents. It pretty much ended up being one gift for each of the 7 kids. My gift I saw was in there!! I thought it was so funny I had to tell everyone the story. Apparently, mom hid them up there once she wrapped them but then forgot about them. The other gifts all got wrapped right before she put them under the tree so she just assumed she had all the gifts. Never peeked again!
  11. Want to hear a gross short story? Once I noticed something hanging from my dogs butt, it looked like a string or a few pieces of long hair. Not thinking it would be anything else I just yanked it real fast. It was a tampon! And the screech the dog made was hilarious!
  12. Out of the house activities are done so now its time to conquer the downstairs!
  13. We're getting our Christmas tree tomorrow so today the entire downstairs is getting its final declutter and cleaning. -acrobatic ds -kung fu both older kids -straighten up living room -clear out entryway of all random stuff - clean out entryway closet and organize - clean and declutter dining room -clean and organize kitchen -sweep entire downstairs -mop downstairs -pull out Christmas decorations -buy new Christmas lights -go grocery shopping -Have an epic Nerf gun war with family after dh gets off work and all work is done!
  14. I have not mainly because I am in generally great health and have never had any health issues I needed to deal with. My mother on the other hand, has a dr who is brutally honest with her about her weight and how it is affecting her health every time she sees her. My mom dreads seeing this dr because of how honest she is but doesn't pick another dr because she knows the dr is right. Sadly, she just hasn't been able to successfully make the long term changes she needs to. But she hasn't given up trying either.
  15. It might bother me if I didn't know what people are so incredibly sensitive that if they notice they've been unfriended but have no idea why they think that the sh*t hit the fan. I unfriended my dh's bosses, a married couple, a few months ago. The husband knew why because we had a conversation about it. His wife did not know why and he didn't tell her, I'm assuming because he didn't view it as a big idea. A few days later when she noticed what I did she text my dh asking me if he was quitting and what was going on with us. She completely blew a simple thing way out of proportion. Had I simply stated that I was pruning my friends list for whatever reason she would likely have never gone crazy.
  16. -My ds telling me what he wants to get other people for Christmas more often than he tells me what he wants. -My youngest, 22 months, telling me I don't have a baby in my belly but he has one in his (not in so many words but that is what he's communicating.) -Getting paid double for a pet sitting job because of how grateful they were they found someone who could handle their aggressive dogs. Its not really the money that makes me happy but being rewarded for being good at what I love doing!
  17. Do it! It freezes amazingly well. I'll be making 8 lbs or so of it shortly after Christmas in preparation for having quick meals when baby comes in Feb.
  18. This one actually pretty speedy and easy. I mean its not as quick as dumping a packet of taco mix into the ground beef but it's still a meal under 30 minutes. I chop the onions first and while they are cooking I mince the garlic and get the spices out and measured. Add the beef and get the rest of the ingredients out and ready while beef is browning. Then I pull out the taco shells and any toppings while the whole thing simmers.
  19. Wait so your kids are already used to only opening one gift on Christmas morning? It's just usually a bigger deal than a single board game? In that case I would give them all the board games on Christmas morning as their big gift that they are used to.
  20. Yea I say use the cups you have or return them and after they are gone you can get a filter and hack a reusable filter. They really do make an really hot cup of coffee.
  21. So far on my third listless day I... -got school done and had a lot of fun with it! -got kids fed breakfast, lunch and dinner -did the dishes at my mom's house -quick cleaned mom's living room, dining room, and playroom Now we're getting ready to head out to kung fu. When we get home it'll be time for the kids to straighten up their room and get ready for bed. We'll see if once they are in bed I will have energy to do anything around my own house. I'd like to clean the kitchen.
  22. I could not do this because my child was not well behaved with me and certainly not at 4. I would suck up the cost of preschool where I was or find some other way to get him some time away from the rest of the family every few days a week.
  23. Today I'm going listless again. It seemed to work well on Monday and Tuesday.
  24. It's likely any reference was not the person who wrote up that report or even saw it. Of course something like that should follow your career anywhere you go but I have to believe it didn't by some error. Believing they knowingly hired him after seeing that report is too terrible a thought.
  25. Don't be so hard on yourself or your dd. My son will be 6 in a few days and this is the first year he understands being generous to strangers. We do a giving tree at my church where we get gifts for parishioner's children who can't afford to get their kids anything. They make lists, we buy gifts and wrapping paper that get handed over to the parents so they can wrap the gifts for Christmas morning. When my son asked, doesnt santa get them gifts I responded by explaining that he gets tons of gifts from all the people who love him, including santa. These parents aren't able to give their kids gifts so we buy the gifts so the parents have something to give to their loved ones. It finally made sense to him because he loves giving things to people he loves. I imagine your dd will get it eventually.
