YES! It is exactly the same here. We all earn about the same amount. My family chooses to spend it on a really nice home (over and above what the school provides) because our home environment is very important to us. Others here cannot believe that we would pay out of pocket for our home instead of just living in the apartment the school provides. Those people travel a lot and spend a lot of money on entertainment, etc. Different priorities. Not wrong or right, just different. .

Organized folks don't do this...

:iagree: especially the temporary location thing. Everything has a place and everything in its place! If you can't find a permanent home for something then you do not need it. :iagree: the mail/paperwork thing is a big one. Open it, read it, act on it, get rid of it. I am the same with email. I open it and act on it and delete. I do not go back to it more than once. I get over 100 emails a day at work that I must respond to. Only visiting them once saves my sanity. :iagree: I used to LOVE scrapbooking but it took up so much time that I had to ditch it. Same goes for our children's pursuits. We made a decision long ago not to get involved in anything that would take an inordinate amount of our family time. I do not want our family to spend our whole lives in a gym, or on a ball field, or in rink, etc. It works for other people but not us. :iagree: always do the thing you dislike the most FIRST. And I am a merciless declutterer. If we haven't used it or worn it in the last year, it is out. We moved back from NC to Michigan and then one year later moved to Malaysia. When packing for this move I found boxes in the garage from our move a year earlier that I had never unpacked. I immediately gave them to Goodwill without opening them. I have no idea what was in them but if I lived without those items for a year then I don't need them. Ship your whole life to the other side of the world on a limited shipping budget and you learn what matters most in your life! .- 131 replies

...They mentioned To Train Up a Child. :glare: New family here, they seemed nice, similar theological beliefs, etc. So we invited them over for dinner. Everything was going so well until they recommended that book in a list of 3 of their favorites. Well, I'm not well-known for my ability to pass the bean dip, not when it comes to that book. It got a little ugly. They left. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Chrislam????
Heather in Neverland replied to Heather in Neverland's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I am actually really glad you posted that. I love honesty. So Rick Warren states in no uncertain terms that Christians and Muslims worship a DIFFERENT God. And that he has every intention of evangelizing his Muslim friends. Not so ecumenical after all. -

Chrislam????

You are new here. We do this is all the time. :D -
So a friend sent me an article recently from the Orange County Register Newspaper describing a project or coalition, etc., that famous mega-church pastor, Rick Warren, has formed with Muslim groups in SoCal. The point of the association is to "build bridges" and focus on commonalities and what-not. Ok, sounds great. We do a lot of that here between Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims. I'm all for it. What I found interesting was that one of the "points of agreement" is this: The Rev. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest and one of America's most influential Christian leaders, has embarked on an effort to heal divisions between evangelical Christians and Muslims by partnering with Southern California mosques and proposing a set of theological principles that includes acknowledging that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Huh??? It's being dubbed "Chrislam" in the blogosphere. Now I am no expert on Islam but I have learned A LOT living in a Muslim country for nearly three years and I can tell you that the Muslims here absolutely DO NOT believe that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. The Christian God is trinitarian and the Muslim God is not. In fact, not too long ago there was violence and unrest here in Malaysia because local Christian organizations were handing out Bibles in the Malaysian language and using the word "Allah" for "God" in the translation and the Muslims here went berserk over it. They were HIGHLY offended and took the matter to the highest court in Malaysia in addition to some church bombings. So while Rick Warren and his followers may be feeling all warm and fuzzy inside about the bridges they are building...which is fine... I am just perplexed that they are perpetuating these false beliefs. Hmmm..... .
