Exactly what Valerie said. I have 2 SILs and a friend with Mazda Miatas - and yes, they are cute, sporty cars. But uncomfortable as heck and absolutely no cargo space. And there is no way I'd use college funds to buy myself a car.

No, we are not gluten-free either. 1) We have thousands of dollars worth of free bread, which everyone here loves, and helps out our food budget tremendously. 2) As an Orthodox, I abstain from meat, fish, eggs, dairy, etc. for chunks of the year. If bread was off the list, I'd be down to just beans, fruits, and vegetables. Not doable for me. 3) I tried gluten-free pasta once. Ick.

Yes, the kids and I are the volunteer caretakers for a butterfly garden at a nearby science museum. We've done it for 6 or 7 years now. We do get a lot of enjoyment out of it. As for my list - it's 2:00 and the only thing I've done is nap :svengo: No butterfly garden today, will have to get to it on Monday. Sheesh. I won't shop at Safeway because I hate stores that basically force you to use their shopper's card. My shopping basically is between Winco (not my most favorite store but definitely the cheapest prices), Trader Joe's and Target. Winco for when I want to do a big shopping trip; Target for cleaning supplies, cat food, odds and ends, ran out of something and need a replacement trips, Trader Joe's for meat, seafood, yogurt, snack items and other things I can't find elsewhere.

My dh is a person who thinks that naming your child "Cello" is completely appropriate. Yeah. I don't think so. I wonder if I should feel a little sorry for Kate - I wonder if she always dreamed of naming her firstborn Noah or Bradley or Alastair (or North, LOL), and now that she's royalty she's limited to about a dozen choices. I would love for them to use some really off-the-wall name just to see how freaked out the country would be.

Jean, what about dual enrollment at a cc? Is that an option? My ds17 took a couple classes last year and it worked out really well. I'll definitely be looking into it for my other ds in the future.

Jean, I'm sorry. I was told, too, before beginning high school, that any classes would not be accepted by the state if I tried to enroll my kids in high school later. Once you take the plunge, there's no turning back :eek: It's so frustrating though...a college will accept homeschool classes but a high school won't. Makes no sense. Keep calm and carry on :grouphug:

ALL my papers are finally filed or otherwise disposed of :hurray: I have one smallish box of books that I still haven't figured out what to do with, but much progress has been made :) My bedroom hasn't looked this good in years. The major things I still have to tackle are the girls' bedroom and the laundry room/pantry. I will try to get through those in the next week or two.

We are way under budget for every category except transportation - we have no car payments but I'm counting gas and car insurance costs in that amount. The housing - our mortgage is 2/3 of the amount budgeted, but I guess if you add in utilities, etc. it might equal out to that amount. And that was maxing it out at 3 kids (we actually have 4).

We did not find out for the first 3 kids. The last one we did. We didn't tell anyone though, and most people thought we were having a boy, but nope, she was our second girl. Made things nice and even.
