  1. Here is a great website to help you work through your gallbladder troubles. We ordered some of the supplements and they did seem to help. But in e end we still had to have my son's removed and I will have mine removed in the near future. www.gallbladderattack.com There is also list of beneficial foods to eat. My son was in and out the same day with his surgery.
  2. My son just had his taken out last Friday. We tried to get his gallbladder healthy again by diet. But after 3 months of pain and attacks we decided to have an ultrasound done, the gallbladder had many stones and the wall had begun to thicken. We decided to go ahead and have it removed. He is still in the recovery stage, but he feels much better than before. Our out of pocket with insurance was about $1500.00. My father has his removed last year. He suffered with it for over 30 years without knowing that it was his gallbladder causing all his 'indigestion'. He was back on his feet in no time. He wishes he had found out a long time ago that it needed to come out. I need to have mine removed. I will wait a little while before I do though. Need to pay off my son's and save a little money.
  3. We started eating a paleo diet, ie: meat, veggies, fruit, good fats, etc.; no grains. My son have terrible acne but after being on the diet for a few months his acne is virtually gone. It will flair up if he eats any grain products at all. That was one of the many great side affects of our diet change.
  4. I hava gallstones and my son (15) is showing signs of having gallbladder issues. I have been trying to work out our gallbladder issues with diet and help from this website: http://www.gallbladderattack.com/gallstones.shtml I am not ready to have my gallbladder removed for the very reason mentioned in the above post. There are other issues that your body will have to deal with if you don't have your gallbladder there to do it's job. And especially for the younger folks, I am afraid they will have very serious issues as they grow older from the constant drip of bile. My son is taking bile salts and digestive enzymes with each meal to help with his digestion of fats. I also have him eating lots of apples and drinking good organic apple juice. Apples and beets are great for the liver and gallbladder. I am hoping that his condition does not include stones (he has not had an ultrasound yet) but mainly is a matter of thick and congested bile in the gallbladder. He has had some improvement and has not suffered any attacks for serveral weeks. I don't know if I will win this battle with my gallbladder, buy I am hopeful that my son will.
  5. Are you anywhere near Houston? If so, you can pm me. I know of several great homeschool groups here.
  6. I will give them a chance to move over. If they are oblivious to the fact that they are clogging up the passing lane, I blink my lights at them. That is code for "get your a$$ out of the way, please" :D I learned to drive in the Houston traffic.
  7. Cool idea. I actually had a Breyer model that came with registration just like a real horse. You got to pick out the names of the sire and dam and then name your horse. Mailed it in and you got a certificate printed out with the info on it. Really neat.
  8. Wow, if you lived in Texas, I would swear you were talking about my SIL. That is exactly how she treats us when we go to visit with them. I have all but stopped going up there. I can stay home instead of being ignored like that.
  9. According to my dad, ants in you raised beds are no big deal as long as they aren't aggresive to you. I had fire ants get into my beds so they met Amdro and are now gone. I didn't put the bait in the bed, but down on the ground where they were congregating. They left very quickly.
  10. The smell of Honeysuckle flowers takes me back to my Grandma's house and the smell of horses reminds me of my childhood.
  11. What a cutie! Maybe he will think that grandma has one big eye. :D
  12. My cousin who lives in Sarasota heard the arrival also. That would be so cool.
  13. I would really think about how much it will cost to buy another vehicle. You will save money on fuel, but does the monthly payment cancel that savings out? Or will it be enough saved on fuel to warrent a car payment. You will also have higher insurance rate on a financed vehicle than on your paid for vehicle.
  14. I love the first sentence: 'I need a vaporizer', it makes me think that you are wanting to vaporize someone with your ray gun. :D
  15. Can you put a flat, wire mesh type bird feeder on top of a slick metal pole? Say 5 feet tall. The cats wouldn't be able to climb it and as long as it was away from the trees they couldn't ambush the birds either.
  16. Have a fat cat.:D The birds in our yard are in no danger from my cat. His is too fat and slow, the birds and squirrels just like to toy with him.
  17. But of course. ;) Well at least most of the time.
  18. If you don't have any luck with selling them, you might try to post them on swapacd. It is just like paperbackswap, but for cd's. Any points that you get can be used to get other music or if you have a paperbackswap account, you can also trade your points to that account.
  19. Makes you question the integrity of that groundhog, huh? We have been having beautiful, but too warm, spring weather until today. It will be 38 tonight and high of sixties for the next couple of days. I know that doesn't compare to what you are getting, but I do feel for you.
  20. I live in Houston and I can't sleep if I don't take a shower right before bed. I feel all galmy and sticky by bedtime in this humidity regardless of my activity level for the day. There are times during the summer I may be inclined to shower in the morning also if it gets too warm in the house and I feel galmy and sticky just from sleeping.
  21. Wow, hope he never loses his enthusiasm for the music. It would be fun to watch him conduct for real, he would bring a lot of energy to the concert.
  22. Do what my dh tells me to do, when it goes against my better judgement.;) ie: light off a burn pile with tall dry grass all around it. :001_huh: Yep, got to visit with the fire marshall.
  23. Oh, how I miss that smell. When I had horses, they were the best comfort to me. I could just be with them all day. But now, I guess I would have to say chocolate, hot cocoa, sitting out of my deck watching the birds and squirrels.
