  1. OMG, that was so incredible. I had tears running down my face. Thank you for sharing.
  2. I have read all 48 pages and I only have one comment to bring to this discussion. Didn't he technically die on the dining room floor? From the article: The children started screaming. Page called 911. Robert was barely breathing — then stopped. Page tried CPR. Neighbors came. Power crews in the area came in and tried to help. Page remembers a big burly man holding her 18-month-old. Still no ambulance. A sheriff's deputy came in and tried to revive Robert. "He was gone," Page says. It is by our modern day medicine that they basically brought him back to life, which shows up with the brain damage possibly due to lack of oxygen to the brain. I realize he was not 'pronounced' dead, but in all practical purposes he was. The CPR kept his blood flowing and air in his lungs until he could be put on life support. So technically, the marriage contract was broken that evening. Technically.
  3. I have one that we have had for over 13 years. I recently had to replace the cord because it was fraying, but this machine has been great. We have an Oreck store close by that I take it to for maintenance and they also sell refurbished models. They are expensive to buy, but we have gotten our money's worth. We have pets too, so lots of pet hair gets vacuumed.
  4. I went to a very small school, as in only 55 students in grades 9 thru 12. My class had 13. So it didn't have much to offer. I did play basketball (the only reason I even went to school :D) and softball. Lettered in both and we even won districts in my senior year in softball.
  5. :iagree: Plus drink more water. Don't over eat dark chocolate. ;)
  6. :iagree: We did not need to mow our grass all summer because of the drought. But ever since we started getting some rain last month, we have had to mow every 2 weeks. we need to mow this weekend. The warm temps have our backyard really confused. Even my little fruit trees are trying to bloom and put on fruit.
  7. We buy Justin's now also. My daughter is the one who devours it. She like it better than Nutella.
  8. This is great. I am reading "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" by Mark Twain right now and loving it. The amount of language used to describe something very simple to us just bewilders me. :D
  9. Well I will admit that I used to wear a headcoving while wearing blue jeans. Never was much to wear skirts and dresses. :D
  10. I have several that I bought from Target. They are the kind that the shelves fold up, which makes moving very easy. I think they cost $89.00 or so each, occasionally they would go on sale $69.00. They aren't the best made product, but they have been acceptable and performed thier duty.
  11. HEHEHE!! I hated it when he would ask a question and I couldn't even remember what he was talking about. I was in my own little world thinking about who knows what.
  12. We have been married for 26 years. I learned early on to 'appear' to be listening. He has told me that I have perfected the 'blank' stare. Very seldom does he actally expect me to be able to interject in the conversation since usually he is jabbering about subjects which I don't know anything about. Like quantum physics, computer programming, motorcycles, just to name a few. I lucked out today. He went out to ride his motorcycyle.
  13. Any more takers? I still have points to share.
  14. I can so relate. My dh can talk up a storm and it is usually on one subject. Presently that subject is motorcycles. :D I am like you, I don't talk. Just nod and smile. ;)
  15. Which paleo book are you reading? I would suggest reading Robb Wolf's book 'The Paleo Solution'. He gives you the geek speak and nuts & bolts information on why grains are a 'no' food.
  16. We experienced the same treatment when we left a congregation. It was a very small group with very strict doctrines. The group was like a family, but when we started going in a different direction, the family shunned us. It was very painful, especially for the kids. We do see/speak to one family, but only very limited. Those relationships will never be the same or even close. Very sad.
  17. We bought the firmest mattress we could find, it has extra support at the shoulder, hip and feet areas. It is only about 2 years old and I am ready to pitch it out. It has not lasted as long as I would think it should. I tend to sleep in the same spot every night. So I am not sure there is such a mattress that can handle that. We had looked at the sleep number beds, but were not sure about the air pumps, maintenance, price. So we ended up buying this very firm bed. :glare:
  18. I have more points I would like to share if anyone is interested.
  19. Yes that is me. :D I have given you some points. Have fun hunting books.
  20. Any fellow BookMoochers here that would like some points? I have lots of points that I want to 'smooch' to someone. :D
  21. Try drinking some diluted lemon juice. about 1 tablespoon to half a glass of water. I have had good results with it.
  22. This is from Texas Home School Coalition: 1. Am I exempt from jury duty because I am a home school teacher? Yes, if your child is younger than 15 years old. In 2009 HB 319 amended Section 62.106 of the Texas Government Code and corrected a discrepancy in the law that allowed a person with legal custody of a child to be charged with abandonment or endangerment of a child younger than 15 years of age but did not allow a person to claim an exemption from jury service unless the child was less than 10 years of age. For those with children under 15 years old, balancing the time demands of jury service with the management of their child’s care can be challenging, especially for single parents, parents with low household incomes and parents who teach their children at home. These parents no longer have to risk charges of child abandonment simply for performing a civic duty. (This measure goes into effect September 1, 2009.) You can claim exempt status.
  23. I believe that the right hand is the main hand used to make the signs. I have difficulty trying to learn to sign as I am left handed and want to sign with my left hand.
