  1. It sounds like a seizure to me. Seizure vary widely. I had a Standard Poodle that suffered from them. He had anywhere from very mild mini seizure to full blown grand mal seizures. It was difficult to watch. Good luck with your dog. I hope you can find some answers and help! Suzanne
  2. Weird and Creepy - My almost 13 year old would be mortified if I did something like that. I feel bad for her daughter. Suzanne
  3. I have used Blue Lizard before too. An allergist recommended it for my daughter because of her sensitive skin. Suzanne
  4. Last year, we used Vocabulary Workshop. I liked it, but my daughter didn't. This year, we switched to Vocabulary Cartoons. She likes it a lot more. I haven't received her standardized test results this year, but it really does seem to be helping. Suzanne
  5. I briefly tried Homeschool Tracker. I got frustrated and stopped. I use and love Homeschool Planet. Suzanne
  6. We found them very helpful. I would still purchase the solutions because it makes grading quicker. Suzanne
  7. I LOVE Homeschool Planet. Before that, I used and really like Scholaric. Both are very user friendly. Suzanne
  8. So sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet! Suzanne
  9. I'm so sorry. I hope your daughter is okay. Suzanne
  10. If you are willing to learn to groom or take him/her to the groomer, I would recommend a Standard Poodle. We now have our third one. They are great dogs. Ours is a definitely a watch dog. She barks more than our other two did, but she can be easily calmed down. The males are usually bigger than the females. Before my male died, he ranged from 55-60 pounds. Our female now weighs about 45 pounds. They are super smart and such fun to own. Suzanne
  11. My daughter has really enjoyed Atelier. She has completed levels 1-5 and is working on level 6 this year. I like that every level provides a wide variety of projects for them to complete. They get to use many different mediums. I also like the clear directions provided. Suzanne
  12. We did CC for one year. In my opinion, the science and art activities were pretty weak. At our location, they were really rushed through and my daughter thought the science experiments were really lame. That said, our group had a lot of great people and the environment was conducive to getting to know people. My daughter didn't like it very much at all so we didn't return the next year. I found the experience frustrating. It seemed really forced and fake to me. Good luck whatever you decide. We have friends who love it. Suzanne
  13. http://www.amazon.com/Puppy-Preschool-Revised-Raising-Right---Right/dp/0312375913/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1423851892&sr=8-1&keywords=puppy+preschool I loved this book when I raised my first Standard Poodle. I don't remember a lot about it, but I know I liked it. Congrats on your new fur baby! Suzanne
  14. I haven't used Onenote, but I LOVE Homeschool Planet!
  15. Great! Having an unreliable car is so stressful. Suzanne
  16. We bought a King Hickory sofa and love seat a few years ago. They still look brand new. Suzanne
  17. My four year old started preschool when she was two. Her sister was involved in several homeschool classes and she wanted something for herself. She started preschool two days a week. We have continued to let her go to preschool two days a week. She loves it. Next year, I will have to find a homeschool group that takes kindergarteners for her. She totally doesn't want to get left out!! It also gives me time to focus solely on my oldest. You have to do what works for you. Different things work for different families. It isn't anything to feel guilty about. Suzanne
  18. My daughter and I hated it too. She is a good writer and has always enjoyed it. In fifth grade, she did IEW through a local homeschool group. She hated it and I did too. It is very well regarded and often recommended here, but it was not for us. It may have went better if I did it with her but I am not sure. Suzanne
  19. My daughter is also enjoying Notgrass Uncle Sam and You. We pick and choose the activities that she does. Suzanne
  20. I have used and enjoyed both Scholaric and Homeschool Planet. I currently use Homeschool Planet and I love it. It has a few more features than Scholaric and I like the various print out options. They are both subscription based, but for me they are well worth it. Suzanne
  21. We have been using staples paper with reinforced holes for the past two years. It is much better than the cheap paper. It is heavier and the reinforced holes keep it from tearing http://www.staples.com/Staples-Reinforced-Filler-Paper-College-Ruled-8-1-2-inch-x-11/product_326530 Suzanne
  22. My mother had a severe UTI a year or so ago. She ended up in the hospital. Before the UTI, she had never shown signs of dementia at all. During the UTI, it was like she was a different person. It took repeated doses of several antibiotics to finally clear her up. Once her UTI was cleared, she returned mostly to herself. She doesn't seem to be quite as sharp as she was before, but almost. I was terrified at the time. At one point, she did not recognize me and she was making growling sounds. I hope you can get help for your mom and that she will recover as well as my mom did. Suzanne
  23. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Suzanne
  24. We adopted our youngest daughter from China in early 2011. We used CCAI and highly, highly recommend them. They were wonderful from start to finish. For our first daughter's adoption, we used a smaller agency. They were great too, but they closed their doors a few years ago. Our Chinese daughter was 13 months at her adoption. She bonded very quickly to me, but she was terrified of my husband for quite a while. We were patient with her and now she totally adores her daddy. Adoption for us has been one of the biggest blessings of our life. Good luck on your journey! Suzanne
