  1. We want to buy ds, 11, a decent microscope, but we can't afford to spend 400-500.00. Any suggestions? Nan
  2. Ds, 11, has always had some fine motor issues. His printing is very nice, but he has always had trouble with cursive, especially connection certain letters together. We've done HWT cursive and he still struggles. WOuld you re-do the HWT cursive workbooks? Or would you let it go. He can write his name in cursive enough to "get by" in life. The thing that concerns me is that he's so used to the simple HWT font that he has difficulty reading other cursive fonts. Help! He really wants to be good in cursive, but isn't progressing, and I don't know if it's worth the time involved. Is there another program we should try? Nan
  3. IMHO the Mosdos workbooks are absolutely not busy work. There are a few pages of vocab for each selection, and many higher level thinking assignments. Is it necessary? No. You can do without it, but it's not busywork at all. We're using Coral and use the workbook all the time. Nan
  4. Have you tried using Writing With Ease? It's helped my son be able to summarize things into his own words, although it's still a struggle. No advice on the mult. facts. We're right here with you, although I admit this summer we haven't worked very hard on them. Nan
  5. No, you're not being too harsh at all. In fact you've been very patient. She's taking advantage, unfortunately. nan
  6. I am very sorry to hear this. I hope things improve quickly. Times like this can be so difficult. Nan :grouphug:
  7. I need a new vacuum, and am willing to buy a really good one. I've had it with the cheapies that don't last more than a few years. Oreck opinions? I need something light, with a bag. TIA! Nan
  8. Where did you get your book cases?I love them. They seem to hold so much and look so nice! Nan
  9. I have an old fashioned Foley Food Mill and it works well. Nan
  10. Thanks SO much! I was hoping you'd post this before we start school! WOOHOO! I'm psyched! Nan
  11. It is beautiful! I love the fabric and I love the computer work station! You can sew/decorate for me any time! Great job!:001_smile: nan
  12. What about getting an unfinished wood floor and staining it a color? I"ve seen really pretty kitchens with wood floors stained a colonial color. It looked very warm and cozy and might not have that "wooden box" look. Of course then you'd be limited to keeping that color unless you sanded and restained it. Just a thought. Nan..who wishes her house had wood floors instead of carpet and tile but is afraid to even look and see how much it would be to rip up all the tile and carpet!
  13. Another Dslite vote here, unless your dd would be interested in using the camera aspect of the DSi. Get the nerf case. It's great! There are lots of fun "pet" games, like taking care of hamsters, kittens, etc. Nan
  14. :iagree: How fun! Try googling "pirate party kids" I"m sure there will be tons of ideas. Nan
