  1. I never really had chores as a kid either. I was responsible for keeping my room somewhat tidy, for putting my dirty laundry in the hamper, and really for helping out with anything I was asked to do. Not having assigned chores didn't seem to hurt me. DS, 11, has to keep the clothes off his floor, put his dirty clothes in the hamper, keep his video games tidy, and help out when needed. He's a fairly eager helper, so we haven't done official chores with him. His main chore is to do well in school, and be a helper at home. Nan
  2. If you've told her it bothers you (which you have now), and if it continues, then she's not a friend I would want. Nan
  3. Don't feel ashamed, my goodness! You found a problem and are addressing it. We're right there with you. We have been working on multiplication facts for YEARS! As others suggested, manipulatives are good, and we've been suing Wrap Ups, which seems to be helping. Don't stress. She'll get it. Nan
  4. When we rented, the landlord took care of those things. Nan
  5. Do you know if people who are treated for high blood pressure can take this? I'm thinking of suggesting it to my DH who suffers from regular and severe sinus infections. Thanks! nan
  6. What brand of organ is it? If it's a Lowrey, it's very simple. No worries about pedals or anything. Nan
  7. OMG! I can't decide which I love more...your blog or your room! Both are gorgeous! You did such a great job. Eveything is so organized and so pretty. You've inspired me to work on our school room before we start school. I admire your creativity so much! Nan
  8. Winter Promise Science (Animal Habitats for 3-6 grade). It's a bit simple for my 6th grader but I will add things in. I'm excited about how much of it is nature/ecology. We plan on doing LOTS more nature studies this year! I'm also excited about starting SOTW 1! I have tons of hands-on stuff for ds. He's a kid who "tolerates" school, but even he is a "bit" excited about 6th grade! Nan:001_smile:
  9. I'm sorry you got some criticism here. I only hope that my ds will include me in his life when he reaches the marriage stage. You're lucky and it speaks well for your parenting! Poconos? It's known for honeymoon packages. Split Rock Resort is very nice, as are the Ceasar Resorts. Good skiing as well. What an exciting time for your family! Enjoy every minute. Nan
  10. We have 2 kitties. Both use box nicely, we buy the usual clumping cat litter. Is there any cat litter that's "better" than the usual supermarket brands? No emergency...just pondering. Nan:001_smile:
  11. Send it back, without any note. PLEASE have her sign for it, so you know it's gotten there and there can be no question that she has received it. If you decide to have her daughter pick it up, get a written receipt from her just to protect yourself. I'm sorry you're going through this. Nan
  12. PA requires 180. We probably do a few more than that, just in case. We school from the end of August-early June, and we do 5 days a week. We do some Sundays if we need to catch up on days. We also get a few days in with summer field trips, math facts practice, etc. Nan
  13. We've had a Sleep Number bed for about 5 years. Hate it. The only thing we likeis that you can adjust the firmness. The foam strip in the middle can be uncomfortable if you tend to sleep in the middle of the bed (We have a king). The biggest problems have been: 1. DH's side of the bed hasn't retained the air for about 2 years. It has a slow leak somewhere. We've tried taking the thing apart and re assembling it and it hasn't helped. 2. DH's side of the mattress has a big depression in it. It looks like a saggy old mattress. He's not a big guy, so we can't blame that. 3. The remote control broke after 3 years. I think we paid a prorated price for a replacement. 4. We got the "lower" legs and you can't put on a bedskirt because it will drag on the floor. Also, you neeed VERY deep sheets to fit over the mattress. So, all things considered, we'd never get another Sleep Number. Big waste of money for us with the major problems we've had. Great warrranty, but you have to send it back to the factory! HUH?? Not easy with our huge king bed. We'd like to get a Tempurpedic but are afraid we're so used to being able to adjust the firmness, we wouldn't like it. Nan
