  1. What do you want to know? I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's at 13 and Hypothyroid at 15 and have been taking Synthroid since then. I am currently 42. I have never had any problems while taking Synthroid. I did try the generic back in my 20's and it as horrible. They are not as good as Synthroid. Plus, if you take the generic there is no guarantee that you get the same generic every time you refill the scrip. That can mess with your numbers and your symptoms.
  2. This will be our 2nd year. I feel like a baby compared with all you veterans.
  3. It is a good feeling when dh defends the decision. I love when my dh tells his mother the way it is.
  4. Most of my faves have already been mentioned but here are some we love in our house: Arsenic and Old Lace Holiday Inn Cheaper by the Dozen (the original-not the Steve Martin remake) Gone With The Wind The Glass Menagerie
  5. Other. It depends on the circus. Exotic animal acts-No. Acrobatics-yes.
  6. Where is the other option? Yes, line drying is allowed but I do not have a permanent line installed. Well, unless you count the swingset. I have a portable rack outside. I line dry everything except undergarments, sheets, and towels. No room for the sheets and dh hates stiff towels.
  7. Are we friends? I used to insist it was thunder chief. I never did get that song until I was enlightened.
  8. We follow the public school for our start date. If I tried to start school while all their friends were off in the summer I believe it would be a full fledged mutiny.
  9. Tattle Form. Unless it is an emegency: Blood, danger, illness, you have to fill out the tattle form. You really have to want to tattle if you go through the bother of filling out the form. This has eliminated the "I just want to get so and so in trouble" tattling. The form consists of the following fields and all fields must be filled in: Name Date Date of Birth Address House tel. number My cell phone number What is your favorite food? Song? Subject? Least favorite subject? Who are you tattling on? 3 lines to write out the tattle. The form allows me to see that they know where they live, important numbers, etc. If they bother to fill out the form I know it is a situation that I need to step in and assist with otherwise they need to work it out amongst themselves.
  10. I have no problem falling asleep after imbibing a beverage or two but I snap awake about 3 hours after I fall asleep and have a dickens of a time falling back asleep.
  11. Free access here. There is plenty of vegetables and fruit in the house for snacking. I go grocery shopping once a week and if they eat all the plums in 3 days then they have to find something else to eat. I do close the kitchen around 8pm because snacking too close to bed times seems to make falling asleep a problem and my dd has nightmares. They will ask about some things -like mozzerella cheese -because they know I may need it for something I am making.
  12. Last year when ds turned 10 he loved (still loves) Lego Star Wars The Paper Plane book a pp mentioned cars, cars, and more cars art supplies books
  13. I got bargain hunter but I think I am closer to cheapskate. Some of the questions did not have my real choice so I did the best I could.
  14. Some books I read over and over and over: Gone With The Wind The Secret Garden 1984 Brave New World Animal Farm A Woman of Substance The Handmaid's Tale Clan of the Cave Bear (and the rest of the series) Harry Potter series Lord of the Rings trilogy (and the prequel the Hobbit) Island of the Blue Dolphins
  15. First day of school the home ec lesson was you want to eat learn to make it. The kids are on their own for breakfast and lunch. As pp stated-if you can catch it and eat it between 11-4 it is lunch. It makes life much easier. No stress on me and they are learning valuable life skills.
  16. Absolutely. I graduated from high school in 1984. Reading that book was a big deal.
  17. It is easy as pie to bake bread without the machine. I was terrified when I first try but I love it. IMO, A quality stand mixer is a must if you are going to use a recipe that requires kneading.
  18. I dream of a dedicated school room. One of my friends has one and I drool whenever I am over there. The majority of our work gets done on the dining room table. The living room is where we do read alouds and independent reading. Current books/curriculum are on a bookcase in the kitchen. School supplies are stored in the credenza in the dining room and the basement. Things that I think look cool and I may want to use are stored in every other nook and cranny.
  19. Emma Harte from Barbara Taylor Bradford's book A Woman of Substance. She is a lady. To me ladylike has more to do with a woman's ability to be true to herself no matter what situation she finds herself in. It comes from within. Someone can have impecable manners but still be a nasty person. Not a lady. I do tell my daughter to sit like a lady when sitting in a dress or skirt. Which is simply a reminder that she needs to keep her knees together unless she wants to be showing off her knickers. I believe most people use the term ladylike to refer to demure, quiet, perfect manners, gracious, and proper.
  20. I turn the loaf upside down when I go to slice it. Sharp knife is a must. The bread slices best when cooled completely.
  21. Thanks for the tip. I found out there is one a couple of towns over. I can't wait to go in store and check it out.
