  1. We have the CHP Biology lab and dissection kit to use later in the year. It appears to be very thorough and I have had my share of labs from biology, microbiology, anatomy/physiology and chemistry while obtaining my nursing degree. I should have better info. once we dig into it in the new year but it is packed full of detailed labs of 30 or so. You can do 10-15 in the year, just pick and choose. The dissection areas are very thorough. We also purchased the student lab manual. I love the detailed lab report sheets. The book also has comprehension questions following the experiments.HTH
  2. That's so silly. Some people just love to rain on your day. Just ignore them. As high as curriculum is, they should rejoice that there is such an affordable resource available. It is truly a blessing in your doing. Don't sweat the haters, Jessica. You go, girl!:)
  3. Yes. Make sure you pack your items very carefully. They will not return your money if the edges of books are slightly rolled and the materials are damaged in transit. You will then have to take it up with the carrier but pack firmly and carefully.
  4. We will use Heart of Dakota's LHTH this fall also with our 2yo. They have a helpful forum on the site if you have any questions and samples are on the site also. It's very affordable and very easy to implement IMO while I school my four older children. Another option which is free could be Letter of The Week. You could use either and throw in library books to boot.
  5. I use my Google account. It has a My Library set up.

  8. We are using R&S English 3. We love the short simple lessons and the teacher's manual is very easy to use. It is a very thorough program and includes writing. It is a hardbound text and we copy our lessons unto paper. There are workbooks which you can purchase for extra practice also and we have them. They make excellent review. The price is great also.:)
  9. We have The Real ACT Prep Book also. It was created by the makers of the ACT test.
  10. A great help for us when we were doing Algebra I was Algebra Survival Guide by Singing Turtle Press. It comes with an accompanying workbook and Rainbow Resource carries it for about $25. It's written in "teen" language and my son loved the language allow with the illustrations.
  11. I buy new. I had a bad transaction with buying used in the past so my dh prefers new. I just try to find the supplier with the best bargains which is usually Rainbow Resource. I will buy used only if it's from someone in my local hs group.

I have one child who has difficulty with spelling and some fun things that we do are: Create silly stories using Spelling Words Make word rainbows by writing each word in a different colored pencil and into a rainbow shape Draw pictures that correspond to each word Spell out words with Scrabble tiles Play charades by giving clues to each word and allowing him to guess which word it is then spell that word HTH

  15. Your first assigned role as the woman of your household is to have a close relationship with Christ, of course. Husband and Children are next in that order. Taking care of the home is your first ministry.
  16. My husband named our oldest. Just a name he admired. Our twins were named after my brother and father. We named our youngest son after my husband and my dd after my grandmother.
  17. We have four sons who have always shared rooms. When I had 3, I had a set of bunk beds for the twins and a twin bed for my oldest in the same room and they would share the same closet/drawer space. Now older, I have two to a room with twin beds and sharing closet space in each room. They have designated drawer space as well to cut down on confusion.
  18. I have twins with height differences. The shorter one is actually more bossy and very mature for his age thus nicknamed, Old Man. Actually, I tend to treat him as if he is older than what he is. He is 10 going on 21. Ha!
  19. That's just the cutest thing! I faved it for my little one. I may use that when she's ready. Thanks so much! You are so sweet!:)
  20. We are using MUS Geometry and my son loves it. He has a learning disability also so to hear him actually say that he actually understands math is a blessing. I have already purchased the Alg. II for the upcoming year. I love the mastery approach and the many practice problems that's provided. I feel like Mr.Demme is right in our home when we watch the instructional DVDs.
