  1. Aw! How sweet! We are awaiting the hatch of eggs from a nest in our yard also. So neat!
  2. Our bank cashes them just like checks. Some places like Walmart will probably cash them for a small fee also. I know Kroger's cashes them but I think with a purchase only.
  3. The grammar is a most definite must have. I have heard great things about the ABC preschool series and readers also. We use the grammar and math so I can vote on those. :thumbup1:
  4. Yes, as long as there is a documented diagnosis, you should be able to recieve special accomodations.
  5. We have Natural Speller but if your child is a great speller, Spelling Power would probably work best. Rod and Staff's spelling is very thorough also.
  6. We use both classics and fun books. I use A Big In Time, 1000 Great Books, Ambleside Online, Veritas Press, and Tanglewood as sources to compile our library lists.
  7. I love the movie although I have heard that the books were pretty dark also.
  8. Miss. Home Educators Association will be 3 hours from Memphis on the campus of Mississippi State on May 16-17 I believe. You can google the association's site for sure. They should have it posted.
  9. I guess I'm the only AA mommy here.:D Don't feel bad. I have a dd and I can't even braid hair. I usually wash her hair, use a detangler from Walmart and add some hair lotion, comb her hair out then put her hair into pony tails. Her hair is naturally curly so I allow it to air dry after a good towel dry. If your dd's hair isn't, you may have to blow dry while combing through. Braiding can be tricky if you have never really tried it. My suggestion would be to contact an AA hair salon in your area that you could perhaps take her to. They can braid it for a very reasonable price (it'll be more than @2.50) and give you a tutorial while you watch them. AA hair can have a tendency to dry out so it's key to keep it moisturized with a great hair lotion. Look for B&B (pink and white bottle) if you are at Walmart. HTH
  10. I have learned that we should avoid the whites. White rice, white bread, pasta and eat brown rice, whole grain wheat breads and brown pastas. I think the natural sweetner of fruits is good but simple sugars in candies, cakes and pies should be avoided. I have to admit that I have been slack in this area.
  11. Whatever happened to baby oil, cocoa butter and limited sun exposure? I feel old.
  12. I also keep our reading list on the reading log provided in Homeschool Tracker. I can print them off to review what we have read. I also keep a list of literature that I use in our subjects.
  13. My sons don't care for any of them because of the wordiness if that makes sense but I have continued to incorporate a few of them into our studies.
  14. My dc liked them with the exception of one but he's not a big reader.
