  1. Thank you for posting about those links... I looked at it and I am in the process of reading it... And there is so much good info here, hard to say anything else that has not been mentioned here. I know my lack with my LO is that I don't do much going outside and ooo and awww over a bug or a flower... though I try... I like Starfall for little ones, but I am amazed at how Reading Eggs has helped my child.... yet I have to pay attention at what it is getting done, as I've noticed my kid wanting to know what happens if the wrong answer is chosen... Also cought him just clicking and that is it... kids like coloring pages, you can jazz it up with water colors.... I got a set of water colors from the dollar store, the ones that are for party favors. Great buy. Use an empty box, or cloths basket and put sissors there and all the junk mail that needs to be shreeded. older kids love the special place and I make them find a letter. the younger ones just like cutting... I say cut the lines... so they try.
  2. Hi, I loved this website! http://www.hubbardscupboard.org/christmas.html We just did the links, and my tired hubby who came for a late dinner had the energy to entertain the kiddos! with the activity. They had so much fun! also CurrClick has a "sale" of downloadable Christmas activities... I am not sure if altogether I payed 60c for all... but I got to use it with the little ones... not necessarily as the activity calls for... but using the cut outs, the banners, the advent like Christmas trees. What my kids really like was putting stickers in a random page that had random numbers all around... and a big star in a corner and a manger in the other and a little verse talking about when their sky if full of stars that morning when they wake up would be Christmas... wow, I just let them put a star sticker on the paper today onlly if they put on their pjs and get to bed... they got ready so fast! Then there is a bunch of songs... we/I chose one song, and they kids had so much fun with that! showed their daddy their song/hand motions as he ate his supper. overall a good day
  3. when we did it I came out negative. but then for donating blood I came out positive. so it is the test sometimes... it is not for medical. I would not go out and change the info in ur driver's licence I would ask ur Dr on ur nxt physical.
  4. has any body ever been able to see the videos in the website? http://www.cimt.plymouth.ac.uk/projects/mepres/primary/default.htm right before the lessons ty:bigear:
  5. Go to donna young website and look up science or science co-ops follow the links... some the reference or help links are full of home friendly experiments... and please include some rockets in the mix... or soda pop and MINT winter green candy
  6. they have a forum that they were testing when the book was about to come out. I joined then they kicked me off as I was the only one there ant they wer testing only. they hav since invited me back. I had the time then to read all her blog postS. she had a personal one going around the time her book was out and I guess her world view and mine conflicted and I could not make myself pay for her book.it might be a fine curriculum. I saw the other day the number of things u can buy...to add ... If any of the people buying from her change their mind...i might take the book off your hands.
  7. Donna young.... google her, she has a Bio Apologia Schedule.... I am teaching a CoOp every 2 weeks.... for about 1 hr. we just get experiments done. There are about 4 or 5 blogs online that are helpful... they cite each other.... Google Apologia Biology Co Op Schedule... One is Apple something... I have a suggested schedule of how the students should aproach each module.... I think Spending 2 weeks in a module is helpful... However I am teaching it in different order. I'll try to post in Donna YOung when I am done with my full schedule.
  8. cool to know, I am teaching Apologia Bio and Chem in Co-Op and videos to explain would be helpful to the kids. Thank you... also have you tried Donna Young? or google Apologia Biology CO-OP and like 5 blogs/websites will come up... onve of them is apple something and they all give nice resources.
  9. I understand small town mentality... we moved to one due to DH job. Hard to make a fuss and then go to the local grocery store..... BUT, be safe... mold is dangerous... if you have been having headaches, allergies, tiredness... loss of memory.... be carefull Better commute than to get black mold
  10. though it was not much talked about I have to say that I use http://www.starfall.com with my kids. we start with their CALENDAR (my 2yr old loves it) then my 4yr old does some of the basic letters for the LO. Then they move to the next level and do 3-4 numbers then they can play with it on the other levels. I did use SWR? Wanda Sanceri method for the phonics.
  11. as a former cloths washer by hand...i'd advice (don't you hate people advicing w/out ur asking~so sorry) use gloves. the thickest you've got. Mex has ACE no? best thing for your whites. let them soak till u wash the colors. I had few cloths. but we had to wash the family's clothes. jeans were the hardest and sheets! socks were hard to keep white. God bless your endevors!
  12. well...i always heard that if you put hydrogen peroxide to your hair (dark hair) it turns out redish...i wonder what it would do to blue.... i'd hate to ask you to try it being pregnant and all. I dunno if it would hurt your baby. but after the baby...maybe u can see
  13. I am begining that path. my 4yr old can read at 1st grade level. I am no help. English is my 2nd language. would love some titles lists
  14. I dunni how to subscribe from my phone. but I need this thread. I grew up overseas and I did not get an american education. so I learned and read Gabriel Garcia marquez, and others. read Sheakspere translated into Spanish. so no English beauty admired. just plain stories... I did read Anna Frank in both languages. and other non-English classics/modern too. I find myself begining my homeschool path w/no knowlwdge of the classics!
  15. am i doing something wrong? the link reads not found
  16. Artificial Intelligence.it is the sadest sci-fi i've ever watched. I WILL not watch it again. Cinderella mangladiator
  17. we have the wireless Brother the fax/copy version. on sale. the ink is expensive BUT!j!j we have a continuous ink system! we love it and it is cheap! we had to pay about $70 for the system plus the printer. basically imagine having bottles of ink instead of cartriges. then each bottle is about $20.it has been half a year and we are still using the same bottles and they are not even a 1/4 down. the usage was small. just one kid homeschooled.look at ebay for systems for your dell. some new printers don't have systems yet. but most older ones do.
