  1. dunno how old is your child, sound baby. so tonight mama give pedia lite, but more than that give your milk. if you are not nursing, then keep the pedia lite going. You can tell when their mouth has no mucus, if that is too dry to your touch, then baby's not hydrated. Other sign, is the lips, but if baby's had surgery then mouth might be chapped due to that. 5mls / 5-10 min is fine, and nursing, lots of nursing.
  2. from a recovering yeller.... it is possible you can do it! Someone said to me it is not that they make you stressed, even if they did, and even if you were in the middle of you yelling match... and the phone rang what do you say? HELLO! WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING CALLING? no, I put my sweet polite voice and I say: hello, this is me, how can I help you? (as my eyes are yelling at the kids) or I am in the bathroom with door close so they cannot hear. So I saw that I can put it on or CHOOSE to put it off! It is hard at first... but if you take control of the yelling, then your kids will respect you and start to obey... not overnight... and it will get worse... I know... I had the 4 yr old, and now is 5. My battles are not as bad. but we have a game plan. I went in an apologize to the 4yr, 2yr, and nb for yelling at them. I said I was sorry that I was not discipling them the first time. Instead I waited (I was just lazy to deal with them) so I told them that the rules of the game were changing. I let the 4yr old to draw and write the new rules. then enforcing, I would mention the rule says that I tell you one time, so here it is I will tell you this time and then you obey, if you don't obey then I have to give you time out, and then you up it according to the agreement. You will be a better person. Though it works at home.. it does not out.. they test me so far when we are o ut, so I have to not be embarrased and leave... if we are shopping and you are throwing a fit we will leave the store and you will go to time out at home with out toys, etc. NOW, for the real inside change in me... I am doing a diet... don't laugh... it is called the Lord's Table... and it talkes about things that may not be related to child rearing, but afect the inside me... it is free online. so give it a try.
  3. Though it is not my personal experience, the tale I am telling is the story of a friend, close to me. She is a great pianist, homeschooled. at graduation she faced a regular music studies in a state school or Juilliard. she faced a life of just music and nothing but music, or a life with mix experiences with people of all different backgrounds not just music. She chose to go to a very good State School, well known for their music dept. All that to say, that if DD is focused only on one thing right now, she's not going to be exposed to all the other things that might pick her interest.
  4. still not working for me. I use firefox as a browser... no luck... it reads: Problem loading page ETA: I can google http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/State-Notebook then use the cached page to see. it only give me the text... but it does give me the download button, when I press it, it goes back to the same old problem loading page.
  5. The link does not work for me...anyone else?
  6. Those of you usig EpiKardia. How different are the daily lessons plans than that of first grade. I found out that they don't sell just the kinder daily. Just the first grade. Those of you that have both, how are they different how are they similar. Thank you.
  7. For the Bio AP, sometimes if your student attempts and does not pass the test...I've heard that the student can graduate with "Honors" still. You have to check in your state. Speciallly if student takes a Bio AP type of class. Meaning Student takes Bio, and then Bio AP.
  8. No car, no van, no loan no headache. Save about $500 , you can do that, a teen can do that. then buy a bit up old car and use it for the commute. A good mechanic told me about my 1981 car, you are OK if you pay about $200/mo in repairs.... as in any lease you'll pay that much and you don't own the car. so far it is one or twice a year that I had to pay that much in repairs.... it holds my 3kids in carseats, and my hubby and me... it is a honda accord. Find yourself a Honda or a toyota, 4 door. they may not have ac, (mine think it does) but we can move the fam. and we owe NO ONE. Why?, we just got out of debt... we followed the Dave Ramsey aproach.
  9. I got the 1st grade lesson plans because I could NOT find in the cataloge the KINDER daily lesson plans! ugh! Where is it? I went to all the pages of the cataloge and could not find kinder daily only. I found the "kindergarden program $150" but not just the daily lesson plans.
  10. So I will try to answer your question practicaly (sp?) It remind me of my choir director telling us to think of a higher note than the one we have to sing. and Most of the time we landed on our note.So perharps you can think of 6:00 as the high note you have to hit and perhaps you'll have dinner by 6 and then clean up time. YKWIM?in my house we hardly eat at 5. that is like our tea time. when most of the time I give them a snack that will tie them over for whatever dinner I star to make.I found in a book a way to plan . it was something like this. sunday AM put chicken in the crock pot with salt pepper and some potatos or whatever you have. by the time church is over your chicken will be ready if not just do cold sandwich for lunch and then make rice and serve. ad watter to chicken add rice to the soup. put some beans to soak.for the next day you can eat the rice and chicken soup for lunch for u and the kids. cook your beans and brown some meat for chilli for dinner (refrigirate/freeze half for spagetti in two days). use left overs for burritos next day for lunch for you and the kids. make ur fav meatless dish for dinner.make a hamburger helper add the separated brown meat. So basically you cook a little extra each day to make it a soup or something for left overs for ur lunch. one time I had planned a week this way. and I got so sick that week. but the family did not suffer.though I was not able to do the other chores the little ones (3 under 4)I am surprized at what the little ones can do with encouragement.when they were 3 under 5. I needed to open a classrom space at church. my back was terrible! so I encouraged the boy (3) to drag a chair for me. and he wrestle that chair till it made it to me. so I folded it and put it away. then the oldest (5) thought we were raising so that kid folded chairs and put them away! Kids are Strong and they are just waiting for us to notice them and see all they can do.encourage games like the little red Hen. when we pretend all the toys are weeds
  11. pizza boxes!a dear friend taught me. she gets free (clean/unused) pizza boxes from all the major pizza places. and she can store a whole lot in them. she has ONE per grade.
  12. I am on the same boat, now the question is what to buy the Complete Year's Plans vs Set I, II, or III of any grade level have to re-read and see which one fits us.
  13. I teach both Bio and Chem using Apologia in our CoOp. you need Saxon algebra 1 completed and maybe you will be able to wing it doing Algebra 2 along with Chem. Please don't make ur student hate Chem just because they don't have the Math.I see it all the time with families puting two siblings of different Math levels, most all the time I see the weaker Math child dropping the class.the math gets hard quickly. hope this helps.
  14. I would suggest a radio. not the music varirty. if you are Christian have moody radio or something with more talking. I say Christian as my kids are too young tohear 'some' topics, so it is safe.that is how I needed to detox from tv. then I needed the news. so from 5-11 I was watching news! well. one day the blessed thing 'broke'. so it went out.
  15. I don't know how to help, but Purdue's bridge bust was just the past month or so they might have pictures! or you can call them and they would help you too.
  16. Hello, and thank you. I'd like to get the set, but can I read it on my computer? I don't have a tablet nor a kidle of any kind. Is there something I can use to still get this good deals? thankx clueless
  17. Hi, I am teaching Chemistry to or CoOp and my spouce teaches Chemistry at the local PS. Conceptual Chemistry is a PS course. it is NOT Math Based. It is for students that are not going to go to college or majors will be non science. It makes math easy math examples. It covers all the subjects but it does not have the true meat of Chemistry. an jump from this class to an advance Chemistry would be really tough on the student, unless it is the only class. I suggest to take Algebra two and be done with it, or at least have finished logarithms and then start Chemistry. Chemistry is not hard, it is the Math that makes it difficult. You can, in my opinion jump from CC to Organic Chemistry basics. as you don't need math for the beginings of that topic. and it would be more fun!
  18. 1 stack of paper plates3 stacks of paper bowlst bags of dollar tree utensilstill your schedule gets to be less crazy.... or at least have them handy.though here sometimes that's the norm.
  19. I can see and print all your lists, and practice handwriting but cannot see the flashcards. Cool! thank you!
  20. I am using the Staples version of laminating pouches. I got the same thing today.... I thought it was my markers.... For sure some acetone will take it off. anyone tried the new dry erase crayons? they do come off the cheap Target white boards, but I have not tried my laminated sheets
  21. What activities work for your 2-3 yr old boys? what websites, blogs, printouts? I would like to do some guided play. the kids know how to count, recognize the letters, their sounds. of course motor skills are not there. Coloring is not that interesting so far. well, not on paper that is. I trully thought of chalkboard painting a door. puzzles are welcomed as it is chasing the girls around with foam noodles. loves trains, singing. I guess I would like to have a routine down for the day, maybe that is what I need more than a curriculum. What routines work for your little ones? Thanks
  22. I like the mom's aware website of Andrea Fabry. She's going less chemicals due to mold, but a lot of resources and how to do things. Maybe not chicken, but a lot of Co-Oping for bulk/organic food
  23. I would strongly suggest a CT Scan... That would not be inconclusive. It is expensive but heck! you have the rest of your life to pay for peace of mind
