  1. Why did they say it only comes in black and white? According to the website, the Odyssey LX comes in blue, red, two silvers, and white (no black).
  2. RE: the big lines, the left hand just plays the (lower) B in the chord, which doesn't require any shifting of position. Hope this makes sense.
  3. This is like searching for Chevy coupes and seeing the prices of Corvettes listed first when most Chevys are much more reasonable.
  4. The top listings are for Land Cruisers which retail $80k+. Most people are not buying Land Cruisers SUV's from Toyota. Looking at their sales figures, the most popular SUV they sell is the Rav4, which starts around $25k. They sell something like 300,000+ Rav4's a year while Land Cruisers numbered around 3,000/year.
  5. We do bikini tops underneath.
  6. My dd finishes 2 pgs a day of MM 4 in 15-20 minutes. Out of my kids, she is near the top in terms of math aptitude.
  7. DH went to graduate school twice after delays. The first time, he spend a year taking classes at a university as a non-degree student and got recommendations that way. The second time, he had worked closely with professors who consulted with DH's workplace and was able to get letters from them. IMO, if your contacts at the community college can speak to your ability to succeed in graduate school, I don't see why that wouldn't be acceptable.
  8. I don't find her creepy, but it is obviously an unequal relationship that you find to be exhausting. Absolutely feel free gain a little distance in the relationship as others have suggested. You wouldn't be abandoning her. If she feels hurt by it, honestly, her family and her feelings are NOT your responsibility. I think it's weird/wrong for you to carry that burden.
  9. I saw online that one family bought a 32000 piece puzzle and instead of building one section/bag at a time, they mixed all the bags up 😱. It took them a long time (couple years?) to finish it.
  10. We do! Our favorite brand is Pomegranate. The images are usually classic pieces of art, the pieces are very sturdy and lock together well, and the finish is matte (I hate glossy puzzles). The only negative is that they only go up to 1000 pieces.
  11. We usually use one very large foam board (3' x 4') for assembling the puzzle and smaller foam boards (20" x 30") for sorting/holding the pieces. Then we can carry the puzzle and pieces around and stack them away when we need the table space.
  12. Definitely :iagree: :iagree: :iagree: . My oldest went through her first phase of treatment a few years ago and just started the second phase. Both times, we've seen 3-4 orthodontists and we've found that both prices and treatment plans vary, so it's worth it to get multiple opinions as to what approach would be best.
  13. I don't understand how these ads get the green light from companies. Like this case, I often end up remembering the ad, but not what was being advertised.
  14. Having a backup camera for our van is really useful, but I don't miss it in our sedan (you can see pretty well because the back of the car is lower). I'd prefer the lower mileage Accord.
  15. It's also possible to go ahead and anchor the shelving to the wall and then, when you move, fill in the holes with wood putty that matches or can be stained/painted to match the existing paneling.
  16. You could use shims to stabilize it (balance and then tilt it back towards the wall). You can put felt pads on the top back corners of the bookcase as well if you don't want to mark the paneling.
  17. If I recall correctly, you get credit on your state taxes for what you paid in NY, so you don't get taxed double.
  18. Have you tried the salary calculator at paycheckcity.com to estimate what his take home might be? I ran it for a family of 6 in NY and net pay was about $105K annually. My only concern is that if you wanted to live in the city, do you think you and your kids can handle living in an apartment?
  19. I think that utilities like water and power are not turned off, but instead are switched to the new owner's or landlord's name. You could arrange for a last meter reading to be taken on the day you move out. I may be mistaken...
  20. Voted no for reasons above. Female, over 18
  21. :grouphug: Buying houses is NOT a happy time for us. It's extremely stressful, so you're probably par for the course at this point. In fact, poor DH almost had a nervous breakdown this last time we bought. Let's try to look at this rationally. What is the real impact of the neighbors' lack of maintenance? Is it an aesthetics/emotional issue you're concerned about? Or do you think it will devalue your home to be next to them? If you're worried about value, how does the price you're paying compare to the comps? You probably have an appraiser's report for reference. If you got a good deal and are paying less than market value, maybe you shouldn't worry about the possible $$ impact on your house, which may be nothing in the end. On the other hand, let's say you feel that you're overpaying. Is there a clause in the contract that allows to you back out now (e.g., didn't appraise for full price, any issues on inspection)? If there isn't, I think you would be defaulting on the contract. Then you need to compare the $$ you're overpaying to the cost of backing out of the contract. These costs include your good faith money, inspection fees, attorney fees, and, depending on your contract, you may be responsible for paying the sellers' costs since you're defaulting on the sales contract. Will the realtor's also hold you responsible for their lost fees? You may want to check with a real estate lawyer on how you can back out and what the cost of default will be. If the cost of default is still less than the $$ you think you're overpaying, then you might feel better about backing out. You said the house is perfect, which is better than what I've felt about the houses we've bought and we still enjoyed our houses a lot.
  22. Me, too! This only started a few years ago. A little avocado in a California roll is ok, but more than that makes me sick to my stomach, to the point that I have to throw it up (sorry for tmi) and then I feel better right away.
  23. Oh, I'm so glad you posted about this. I've had these for years, but I've never known what they're called. For me, it is definitely triggered by friction/chafing, either against a pad or just underwear due to form-fitting pants. Usually it's manageable so I'm not interested in seeking help from a doctor, but I'm glad to at least know what it's called. : )
  24. Balsam hill.com is supposed to have very realistic looking trees. They also offer unlit versions of their trees. A little $$ but probably on sale right now.
  25. How about using Excel--you can type equations (yes, it is cumbersome) and use it for showing work with matrices. LaTeX will require more investment of time to get up to speed but looks better (and is more customizable).
