  1. Just finished a couple hours ago (yay!). We'll get a small refund, which will go into savings.
  2. I'm really happy with Taxact. I tried Turbotax one year but I don't remember why I didn't go back. Taxact was ~$30 for both federal and state returns and our taxes are not overly complicated.
  3. If you look at quotes from moving companies for moving cross-country, it's probably going to be 10k-15k, though. One way to drop the ABF cost is to load your belongings in another truck/van and take them to an ABF depot to load onto the trailer. If you do the same at the other end (pick up your stuff at another ABF depot), that lowers the price more...you'll have to call them to get the lower depot to depot price.
  4. We also had a great experience with ABF...much less expensive than our other options at the time.
  5. Interested! My oldest DD and my hubby both struggle with anxiety.
  6. Also, visit a few more orthodontists to get a better picture of what to do and how much is reasonable to pay. If they take x-rays or pictures, ask to have a copy of those so you can visit other offices without redoing that each time.
  7. Hives can be caused by physical stimuli (pressure, heat, cold--my husband had this one for a little while, etc.). Maybe it's just a certain type of physical stimulus--rubbing against a bristly beard--that triggers your hives.
  8. Ours had a concrete top that was buried as well. The septic company would dig it out for free if it was x inches deep and charge a little bit more if it was > x inches. We pumped ours out every 2 years and that part of the yard looked like a forest floor, so it was no big deal to cover it back up with dirt. At another house, they had built up a concrete "collar" so that the lid was above ground and then surrounded it with shrubs that disguised it. Since it's the norm around where you live, I'm sure the septic companies are familiar with how to locate and dig out the tank lid.
  9. I used to have a wonder wash when we lived in a high rise apartment with inconvenient laundry rooms. The main problems we had were capacity (obviously) and extracting water from the clothes. I bought an electric clothes spinner to remove water from the clothes; otherwise they would take forever to line-dry.
  10. Our previous house had no water issues in the basement, but the air was generally humid & would go musty if it was not in circulation. It was fine without a dehumidifier as long as the HVAC system was moving air around. But this was for a dry basement w/ a slight mustiness issue, not one with leaks.
  11. We have a blue cross blue shield high deductible plan with HSA. For us, as long as the provider is in-network, we only pay the negotiated rate (if we haven't reached our deductible). Well child visits are free. HTH : ).
  12. If I understand what you mean, for a high-sided pan, it wouldn't work because the silicone mats are too stiff to drape inside the pan.

Putting the spacer in was quick (5 minutes?), but in order to make the spacer, I think they need an impression of the teeth affected, which may trigger your ds' gag reflex. I have heard of dental offices w/ equipment to take digital impressions...that might help... Edited to add- no numbing was required.
  14. I think it's genetic, as well. 3 of my kids have had MANY cavities in baby teeth (but none in adult teeth so far), while the other two have always had perfect teeth (0-1 cavities). They all were breastfed for the same amount of time, eat very similarly, and have good brushing and flossing habits.
  15. Oh, I'm so sorry, mama! :grouphug:
  16. One co-op that has over 125 families uses Regpack.
  17. How about Dash or Dot robots? https://www.makewonder.com
  18. Here's a placement test: Thinkwell- http://www.thinkwell.com/resources/placementTests/PT4_G8M_A1_Questions.pdf Btw, my daughter started algebra early in 6th grade and finished 1.5 years later (schooling year round).
  19. My oldest dd went from 6b to foerster algebra. Are people arguing that foerster lacks rigor? I agree with Janeway about a placement test. Also, it may make no difference which pre-alg you choose in terms of segueing into dolciani, so do whichever you like.
  20. How about Sling TV? Sling Blue + World News Extra ($30/mo) will stream most of the channels the Olympics will be on.
  21. We liked our Samsung French door fridge. Looking at Lowes.com, I randomly clicked on two Samsung ones and they were both <36".
  22. $500k in the best school district, $300k if you don't care about the school district.
  23. My DH had this a few years ago. One February, he got a bad cold, followed by the whole family getting the stomach flu, followed by another bad cold. After he recovered, he discovered that when his skin was exposed to the cold, he would break out in hives. Even if he was in a warm house, but holding a cold bowl of ice cream, his hands would puff up. He talked to his doctor and was told his immune system had probably been very stressed and gone a little haywire?. Also she said the cold urticaria might last forever, or it might just go away on its own. We lived in the Philly area and he had to cover as much of his skin as possible when he was outside. But by the next winter, it had stopped without us doing anything special, thankfully. Best of luck to you in your move : ).
