  1. That is such wonderful news....and in this economy? PURE AWESOMENESS :D
  2. Waiting is so hard!!!! Hope you get good news soon :grouphug: Diane
  3. Good Luck! Sounds like it would be a wonderful adventure for the whole family!!! Diane
  4. My suggestion would be homemade goodies and special treats that remind him of home (chips/salsa from favorite Tex/Mex restaurant in town etc.) I also second the roll of quarters....that was always much appreciated when I was in school! HTH! Diane
  5. Just found out that we can watch the superbowl online at NFL.com or NBCsports.com :D It is live streaming...commercials included ;) We live near the mountains and dont' have cable....we tried to get reception with a $40 HD tv receptor thingie  and got the religious and spanish channels only. I enjoy football and was pretty bummed that we weren't going to be able to watch the superbowl this year. I thought I should post just in case there are others like me out there who were unaware this was an option... GO GIANTS!
  6. Me, Me, Me! I need to lose some weight....all my clothes are tight and even my wedding band is getting too tight for my fingers :glare: I need some accountability! Diane
  7. Thanks for the hugs and advice :001_smile: Yeah...I think I am going to rearrange some gifts. Shouldn't be too difficult and as this is probably his last year to believe in Santa I would like for it to be still magical for him when he wakes up on Christmas morning! I can still remember the the feeling of excitement, wonder, and magic I felt and want that for him as well. Diane
  8. My DS who is 8 and still believes in Santa looked in my closet and dug around :glare: and evidently saw some of the stocking gifts I had planned on giving his brother....he thinks they are gifts for DH. Also in the bag (but not mentioned by DS) are captain america pj's that were going to be part of his stocking gift. Any thoughts on how I should handle this? I am torn between switching out gifts under the tree and rewrapping for stocking gifts and just using the gifts originally planned as stocking gifts. Has anyone else experienced this before....what did you do? Thanks! Diane
  9. Well sounds like the general consensus is that I should be more appreciative of their thoughtfulness and provide a small gift :D Ok, I can do that! ;) A PP mentioned that maybe they were just wanting to see that the place is well taken care of....well All 8 times they have come over they have been invited inside. We keep this house neat and clean and it has always been company (landlord) ready when they come by....heck they even used my boy's bathroom and that had been given a good wipe down before they arrived (boy was I glad about that!) So, I am not quite sure why they keep coming over so much. But, that being said I will make sure that there is a little something to give to them when they come by on Saturday. Thanks Hive! Diane
  10. I had thought about that....but then I'd have to bake :tongue_smilie:
  11. We are currently renting a house and just got an e-mail that our landlord wants to stop by and give us a "holiday gift". While this is thoughtful, I feel a bit at a loss as I don't know if we are supposed to reciprocate...and if so, what kind of gift should I be getting them? We have been renting for the last 4 years but have only been our current place since August and have not had this come up previously :D Any thoughts/ideas are most welcome as I am clueless and feeling a little Bah Humbuggy about the whole thing (Background: Landlord is very nice but a little intrusive. We have seen them no less than 8 times since we moved in in August...we are used to paying our rent on time and never seeing the landlord...which is kind of how we prefer it as we are both introverts and landlord & wife are extreme extroverts) So ...tell me I need to get over it and get a gift, or that l I shouldn't feel obligated to reciprocate. :tongue_smilie: Thanks! Diane
  12. Oh, I feel your pain! When I was a den leader I was such a basket case anyways.....to have something like that happen would have ruined my whole night :grouphug: Have a glass of wine ( a big one) and is it possible to get some those pillsbury cookies you can bake up quick? Hope your day gets better! diane
  13. :D too funny! Almost put next to my post "quality tea....not quality TeA" though that is wonderful as well and heck you don't have to wait for Christmas ;)
  14. Soft fluffy socks to keep your feet warm A good paperback book Burt's bees chapstick nice hand lotion fingernail polish good chocolate quality tea book mark All those little things that you like that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself ;)
  15. Try amazon or Toys r us. I have found good prices at both of these places during the holidays. Good Luck...oh and :iagree: Boo to Lego website!!!
  16. The Laura Ingall Wilder series were wonderful books on cd. I would highly recommend them :001_smile:
  17. Just saw this. :grouphug: I will be keeping your MIL in my prayers. Diane
  18. My husband had this last year and was not back up to his normal self for about 4-5 weeks. Please make sure to get lots of rest! I think DH tried to do too much too soon and it affected his recovery. Diane
  19. Yes, I was surprised to hear about this as well...I am curious to see it as I really enjoy the series. The only thing I can see wrong with it is that they didn't use "The Rock" (Dwayne Johnson) as Ranger (that is who I see in my head when I read the books) :D diane
  20. DH being out of work....he just got his masters in Archaeology and their are no jobs out there! It has been very stressful!
  21. Bummer! I was hoping to see Texas Rangers win game 4 :tongue_smilie:
  22. We took our 8 year old and 10 year old boys to see it and they loved it! DH and I thought it was pretty cool as well :D Diane
  23. We actually had luck at the grocery store (King Soopers). My ten year old wanted to be scary as well this year and all of the costumes I saw at Target were a little too gruesome (blood runny down the skull face etc.) We managed to find a skull mask that goes over his head and has kind of a torn cloth look to it. He is going to wear it with his dad's old ripped shirt and a pair a jeans and call himself a zombie....works for me :D The best part was that it was only $5.99...much better than the $20 that target wanted to charge for a mask and cheap outfit. Good Luck! Diane
