  1. We got our son one and wish we hadn't. I agree with several of the previous posters that have mentioned that it is difficult to monitor and control. We ended up trading it for something else he wanted...best decision we ever made. Even at 10 our son knew that he was becoming too obsessed with it. It brought out behaviors that I didn't like...nagging (for a new game every couple of days...at .99 cents a game he never had to save up), sneakiness (we allowed ipod on weekends only but would find him sneaking it on weeknights and staying up late), and I found that when he got together with friends they didn't interact at all but just played on their own ipods :001_huh: Each child is different so use your best judgement, but I am glad that we don't have the ipod around anymore.
  2. Our family just moved from there last year and really miss seeing the balloons in the sky. It was magical :001_smile: It was one of our favorite places that we have lived! Enjoy your time while you are there!!! Diane
  3. We always do homemade wings, rotel and chips, veggie tray with onion dip, 7 layer dip with chips, fruit tray with cream cheese or whip cream dip...lots of good snacks :001_smile: Diane
  4. I have an 11 year old son too and can't imagine what you must be going through :grouphug: Prayers being lifted for your son and whole family. Diane
  5. :grouphug: Wow that is just awful!!! My boys were in cubscouts and we only had positive experiences when we sold popcorn in front of Sam's club. Some people just suck :glare:
  6. Little House series The Secret Garden A little princess Betsy/Tacy books Mysterious Benedict Society These are all great books!
  7. DH suggested that I hyphenate my name when we got married and I liked that idea. I have never had any issues with taxes, driver's license etc. For all practical purposes though I am Mrs. husbands last name...it is just simpler. Diane
  8. I don't have any ideas...but couldn't read this without giving you a :grouphug: and wishing you the best. Diane
  9. Can you advise what essential oils you specifically use? I have lavender but no other oils..would this work? Thanks for the great tips above, I will be trying these and out and keeping track of this thread for more ideas. :bigear: Diane
  10. Not mine, but my brothers friend thought the lyrics to the VanHalen song "Panama" was "Call your ma" My sister thought that the lyrics from the Grease song "your the one that I want" went like this I've got chills there multiplying and I'm losin' control cause the power your supplyin It's Frankenstein :001_huh: and the one that I always messed up was the Neil Diamond song "Forever in Blue Jeans" I thought he was talking about some pastor named "Reverend Blue Jeans" :D

  15. Saw this myself this morning and it just made me sick! We are about an hour from Aurora but have friends from work that live there. Praying for all those families!
  16. DH and I just returned from a vacation in San Francisco last week....it was wonderful!!! My suggestion is that you book a vacation rental as most are not that much more expensive than a hotel, but have a kitchen and allow everyone some space (much needed after tromping up those steep hills). This is the one we stayed in (just the two of us). http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/california/san-francisco-bay-ar/san-francisco/nob-hill (the first one listed). It was wonderful and the location was perfect. On our trip we: First day (arrived on Thursday) at about noon: Took bart from SFO to downtown and walked the Embarcadero and had late lunch at Fog City diner (expensive but yummy!) Friday - Downtown and south of market, went to the Museum of Modern Art. There is a great restaurant near the museum called The Grove....absolutely delicious (all the food we had in San Fran was wonderful) North Beach - walked up to Coit tower....hard walk but beautiful views! Lunch at one of the many italian restaurants is a must...we had spaghetti bolognese, caeser salad, bruschetta. For dessert you should try Naia Gelato in North beach....the best gelato I have had outside of italy! We didn't walk through Chinatown on this visit, but you should as it is awesome...lots of neat shops, good food, not to be missed if you are visiting for the first time. We also enjoyed golden gate park and ocean beach. Make sure to bring jackets, long pants and long sleeve shirts. We had several days were it was maybe 60 degrees, foggy and cold. Have fun! It is one of my very favorite vacation spots Diane
  17. Use mixture of vinegar and dawn dishwashing soap (about 1/2 and 1/2) and squirt onto soap scum....Let sit for 15-30 minutes and then wipe off. If there is still some soap scum left...rinse and repeat :001_smile: I tried this several weeks ago and my extremely nasty soap scummy bathtub is sparkling clean! Diane
  18. In Fort collins here...and the rain last night was wonderful!!! Unfortunately lots of lightning as well. Very smoky this morning...I don't know if the winds shifted or what, but definitely smells more smoky this morning than it did yesterday. Lots of prayers going out for all the Firefighters...it has been extremely hot here in Fort Collins last few days...can't even imagine the heat they are experiencing so close to the fires. Diane
  19. Keep it together keep it together keep it together - One of my favorite phrases from the movie Bowfinger :D
