  1. Does My Father's World give conference discounts? I don't know about your dad, but you deffiniatly wouldn't want to visit my father's world. It's a scary place :001_huh:
  2. Serious question for serious thinkers Silly answers from occasional thinkers
  3. Every year I have bought my boys a stuffed lamb. Last year I added a christian book for one and a verse picture frame for the other. My mil hides eggs at her place, and it usually has the usual Easter candy.
  4. http://www.behr.com/dsm-ext/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=6bd8ea6621ca5110VgnVCM1000008119fea9RCRD&vgnextfmt=defaul#vgnextoid=6bd8ea6621ca5110VgnVCM1000008119fea9RCRD;view=14;channel=INSPIRATION This is the Bher website where you can apply colors to pictures of rooms, or you can upload your own pictures and try out how different colors look. You can print them out, but I think using your own pictures may cost a little. I've had a lot of fun experimenting with their own pictures :D
  5. :iagree: Same thing here. Right now I want some pencil grips that cost $4.50 but S&H is $6.50! My husband told me to wait until I needed to buy something that adds up to $25. His words were "There's always something you just have to have." But there really isn't right now. So handwriting is on hold unless I can find a teaching/homeschooling store nearby...
  6. I have 37 pages (922 items) on my biggest wish list. ( I have 14 wish lists for different categories.) The next biggest only has 13 pages. And I'm not including my default because there might be duplicates :D But all that means is I've spent WAY to much time on there :D
  7. I turn 25 in May. I have been married for 6 1/2 years, I have 2 kids, and I didn't feel like an adult until I got "grown-up" furniture with our tax refund this spring. I now have a dinning table and chairs, and I have a bed frame, instead of sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Sometimes it takes something small or silly to make it feel like it.
  8. I could use some accountability as well. I need to lose 30lb, and fall seems doable. My first pregnancy was the best thing I ever did to lose weight. I was so sick through it all that the day I left the hospital I wieged less than before I became pregnant. 2nd pregnancy, not the same story. And now I'm on a medication that has caused me to gain 30lb in one year. :glare: My goal this week was 3 periods of 15 min of elevated heart-rate (my bil is in school to become a personal trainer.) That didn't happen. :glare: I went a whole month without sugar about 6 months ago. I lost 1 lb. :glare: And we can't afford a lot of fresh fruits and veggies. Inexpensive food= carbs. Pasta and rice are eaten 3-4 times a week here. So give me a daily kick in my butt and I'll pray for a miracle. At the bigining of last year I did a personalized training schedule that was suppose to help me lose 2lbs/week. I gained 4lb in 6 weeks and I lost heart. :glare:
  9. :iagree:I cried when I saw Ella Enchanted the movie :001_huh:  :cursing: :banghead: :crying: I would love to see many of the previously mentioned books as movies, but no one gets it right. My husband and I watched the Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga Hoole and even never having read them I could tell how much had been taken out. And then I read the plots of the books on Amazon and found out that it "covered" THREE books! I can't imagine being a fan of the books and then have to watch that movie! Thankfully I saw the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice first, so I can freely love the movie. But my English professor hated it.
  10. "I don't care who you are; that's funny right there!"
  11. Can you tell me at what age it is required? As I understand it, kindergarten is not mandatory, so do I have until my first is 6 to file? Or do I have to file at the start of the regular school year in which my ds will turn 6?
  12. Thank you, crstarlette, for informing me that this was NOT about the beverage tea. :blushing: I meant nothing unorthodox by my comments. I actually meant a real tea party. I guess I should have read the other replies. I am deleting it now.
  13. This thread pretty much covers it all: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224291&highlight=flying+kids
  14. I've heard it said that if you want to get your kids' attention all you have to do is sit down and look comfortable :D I know SWB in WTM recommends a mandatory rest hour after lunch. I hope some day in the future this will be a reality for me. Until then, I need the nap-time of ds2 to teach ds4. :glare: We can do somethings with the little one, but not enough.
  15. Is now the best time of year to buy new materials? (I'm new at this.) Are they cheaper at different times of the year? Say, a month or so after the traditional start of the school year? I share your excitement. Our first math program is suppose to show up next Monday :party:but I wondered if we could have gotten it cheaper if we had waited? It said it was down to $100 from $145. Is that just a ploy, or is it really that high at other times of the year?
  16. On the rare occasions that we've used going to bed as a punishment, there have been NO stories. But we don't do it often, because I don't want them to associate "bedtime" with "punishment." But there are those times when we've said "you must be really tired if you're acting like that."
  17. Nature scavenger hunt Any game that can be played with a ball outside Potato sack race Wheelbarrow race Tug of Rope Egg and spoon race Anything that gets them moving and uses up the cake sugar :D Nothing says "spring" like doing everything outdoors!
  18. I've been in this situation twice in the past 3 months :glare: The first was my very good friends husband. He cheated with her, got caught, separated, had 4 different relationships in two months, got "serious" with one of her friends, and started posting all over facebook how wonderfully happy he is. :glare: I un-friended him, after I sent a (unfriendly) message to his mistress (in my mind, if you're still married, it's still adultery, even if you're separated.) My poor friend had enough of his jerkishness, and quit facebook altogether. Then the other day, my bil (married/sperated to my dh's sister) accepted my friend request and I was shocked to see he was in a relationship, which he's never mentioned (we see him at least once every week.) His wife, my dh's sister cheated on him, and has been inappropriate with men since the beginning of their marriage, and even she doesn't have a relationship on there. I'm still trying to figure out how to handle this one. :001_unsure:
