  1. This. . . is "wow". “Obviously he did it, and he got away with it, and at one point he even told Nicole, ‘I’ll kill you and get away with it ’cause I’m OJ Simpson,'” Jenner said Jenner also said Robert Kardashian (one of OJ's lawyers, and his ex-wife's first husband) knew OJ was guilty. eta: CJ was at Nicole's house two days before she was murdered.
  2. Someone asked Caitlyn Jenner for a quote on OJ's death: "Good riddance". Considering their ex-wives were bffs . . . CJ didn't mince words. Previously has said: He was “the most narcissistic, egocentric, neediest asshole in the world of sports I had ever seen, and I had seen a lot of them.”
  3. dh is probably a 3 . . . .flirting with 4 . . . . My highlander actually gets better mileage than his camry, so we take it on road trips. My highlander has "smart" "automatic" (whatever) cruise control. We all thought he'd hate it because it would slow down the car if he got too close to the one in front of him. He actually likes it. It has reduced a lot of that on the open road.
  4. For impacted, oral surgeons. if they've erupted, a dentist can do it. 2dd has a big mouth, and she had room for her wisdom teeth, but she had to have them out when she went to South America, more as a prophylactic then because they were causing trouble. (for many - not all - people, they cause trouble.)
  5. It's probably a reflection on that CC. It can also vary with subject. 1ds and 2ds both did AAS at the CC level before going on to get their bachelors. Even 1ds's engineering classes (which weren't technically ABET, but HAD to meet the standard for ABET to transfer to our big instate 4yr. - where he got his BS, and MS. He was working on his MS during covid.) If classes are mostly online, can they try a different CC? or even a legitimate online program that is associated with a B&M university? (one of our -smaller - state universities offers online through our local CC, and dsil did his MBA at whatever Arizona University is online.)
  6. It's not exactly the same, but . . My niece excluded her dad (my brother) from her wedding. 2nd ex-wife (not her mother) was talking to me saying she "should have invited her dad". (blink). I reminded her the amount of drama he causes, and at least that was all it took to remind her WHY he was excluded! (Apparently how he'd treated her fiance/husband when they met was particularly obnoxious. This was a good guy who was willing to marry a woman with a very young child! - bio-dad dumped her when she told him she was pregnant.) At major holidays, I've had him fish (or directly ask) for an invitation, so he'd have somewhere to go. Out of respect for everyone else, I'd have to say "no, doesn't work". Sometimes it's more unkind to everyone else to inflict such a person upon them.
  7. Then I guess she doesn't have a say. . . . 😜 It's sad, but sometimes the cray-cray needs to be excluded for the sanity and well-being of everyone else. If he didn't bring drama, he wouldn't be excluded.
  8. My point being, society's attitude towards mental illness. The family would have shown unbalanced thinking, he certainly did (he thought shooting up a school was a great idea, an ego boost - even though he knew he would go to jail.) He didn't just get up one day and go do this, he made plans about how he'd do it. Same for the aurora theater shooter. He made plans. it is much harder to do a hold than it was 45 years ago, but some people should be.
  9. Her insurance company should help. If the tree owner has any legal responsibility, they will likely go after them to get some of their money back. If she has proof the neighbors knew it was rotten and refused to take it down, there may be legal recourse for the bill. May need to be small claims to do it.
  10. It's more complex. The colorado movie theater shooter scared his psychiatrist so much, she tried to report him. The state wouldn't hold him. Despite the recognized danger, he walked free. There was a (big) mentally ill homeless man in Seattle with a record of violent assaults in the previous five months, yet he walked free. Fortunately for one would be victim, another man was able to prevent him throwing the woman off a freeway overpass into rush hour traffic. The politicians and homeless advocates raged at the judge for refusing to grant bail. Those are things that must be changed.
  11. This. Sally can come or not as she chooses. If she wants things her way, she's welcome to plan it herself, and then she can find out how many people would rather avoid the drama that follows Sam. (and listen to complaints from people who do attend afterwards.) If it's a family where you are pressured to include everyone, then someone else can plan it.
  12. I have no sympathy for the parents. They knew he had mental health issues, but they provided him unsupervised access to a gun. I hope the parents of Chase Jones are also held accountable for continuing to give him cars, despite having totaled two previous cars in less than a year and knowing about his love of seeing how fast he could drive (this was beyond speeding.) I don't care if he was 19, his parents gave him cars, and they gave him the one he used to drive 112 mph on a 40mph street in the middle of the day killing four people (three children), and seriously injuring two more children from three families.
  13. There were a lot of patchy clouds, could usually see the sun through them as the moon progressed across the sun. Then a nice break for our two minutes of totality, and the very lovely corona (which you won't see unless it's 100% eclipse) dsil took a lot of photos, so hoping to be able to get some. He'll usually send them to us. I got dh and all three 'boys' off to the airport this morning. You could see the lightening, but there was only rain while we were going to the airport and dh was driving. It stopped for my drive home, which I really appreciated.
  14. Beforehand, I started hearing a lot of birds.
  15. It's all who does the forecasting, some just say rain . . . they're booked in pairs, so hopefully, if they have to cancel flights . . I'd booked through premium class, so when my flight was cancelled for the ice storm, I was automatically rebooked. But we were glad for the delay.
  16. Fort Worth - overcast/white sky. Yes, we can still easily see the sun through the clouds, and shadows, etc.. dh is setting up his "contraption" for viewing. Binoculars reflected into a box. He'll have a smaller "screen" than I did in 2017, but the edges will probably be sharper. we also have eclipse glasses. Thunderstorms are in the forecast . . . I just hope I don't have to deal with them overnight when I'm taking the male members of the family to the airport. And . . I hope the traffic isn't nightmare central.
  17. Dh and 2ds drove four (five?) hours for the last one. This time, we flew (at highly increased ticket prices!) to 2dd's. At least we had companion fares for two of them. and don't have to pay for a hotel, or rental car (dsil rented one on his work account from an off airport location. - it was normal price. The airport (in Jan) wanted $1200!!! for four days!!!! and it was a 'mystery' car.) Here's one of my pics from 2017 I think that was as much as I got since I wasn't in totality. Used dh's 20x binoculars to project onto a screen.
  18. 2ds complained about the lack of corona.
  19. dh and 2ds went to the eclipse in 2017. We're all currently at 2dd's. She lives in totality - except . . . they changed the range of the zone. theoretically, we're still in it, barely . . 2ds is now looking at maps to see where we can easily get to to make sure we are in totality. He wants to make absolutely sure, we're in 100% totality, not . . 99.99%
  20. Good advice. Be willing to walk out. Don't put up with games. You have the power, don't give it to the salesman.
  21. It's a lot more than engine. And are you sure it's the exact same engine? You might need to dig to find out the particulars. Cooling system, brakes, etc. are also part of tow pkgs. They should tell you the differences. Go to trailer sites and talk to real people about what a vehicle will tow. Not always what is advertised. ,
  22. they are small printing to prevent lawsuits. when Husqvarna put "do not attempt to stop chainsaw with your hands" . . . .
  23. 1dd used them for fabric when she was younger. now - I only keep so many, the rest go.
  24. The princess bride is quoted quite a bit. dsil likes to say "Have fun storming the castle." other people are more varied in their quotations. dh loves Vader's line: The emperor is not as forgiving as I am. 2ds quotes all sorts of stuff. oh yes, elevensies, what about second breakfast, etc.
  25. I have three that were very picky. (dudeling . . . I gave up. He'd rather starve than eat something he didn't like, and he didn't like much. He didn't recognize hunger, so he could go quite a while without eating. the hanger was bad . . . .). another one was pretty picky as a child, but does fairly well as an adult. One of my ASD kids, was never picky. But I was pretty picky as a kid (likely I have ASD as well). I eat a lot more now - though I still hate the texture of liver, and I refuse to eat pickled herring and sour cream (one of dh's favorites.)
