  1. I remember the thrill when I first got my a laundry  . Before that I had a washing machine on the outside veranda, and I had to carry the buckets of hot water from in the house.we had a really really small house and the washing machine could not fit. My DH made a sleep out separate from the house, the front half of it is the laundry, the back half is the spare bedroom ( actually ds18's room but he is away most of the year at uni). Enjoy! :hurray:
  2. I would have flipped right out. IT was a little Girl. I didn't cut my daughter's hair until she was nearly three, and then it was a supper tiny trim. How can you put a little girl's hair into cute piggy tales, or a little fountain on top if someone is CUTTING IT! You have my permission to slap her down.
  3. that is what it is like for me. When DH is in Canada I can hardly sleep. I have found that filling up a few hot-water bottles and putting them on his side of the bed helps. I guess I must reach out in the night, and if he isn't there I wake up.
  4. I don't get it either. We grow our whole year's supply of garlic and store it in an airy place. It keeps really really well. We eat at least 1 clove a day.

  6. I cried when reading that book too. I cry when reading lots of books. Sometimes I feel like a good cry and get out a sad story. Works like a charm.
  7. They should keep for a whole year if you put them in a basket with lots of air and stick them in your pantry. I would not recommend freezing them. It makes everything in the freezer have a garlicky smell and taste.
  8. Have you seen this? Latest exploitation of the poor in poor countries by a western company after mega profits http://au.news.yahoo.com/latest/a/-/latest/15839117/nike-accused-of-using-military-to-intimidate-workers/ it is all over the news and radio here.
  9. I don't do facebook. there are heaps of other donation spots though :coolgleamA:
  10. I would just chuck them straight in the bin. End of problem!
  11. and here is a great survival story http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jan/09/australian-wildfires-family-defining-photograph?intcmp=239
  12. I just found this map that shows the current fires going in Australia http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/interactive/2013/jan/10/australian-wildfires-rage-map-interactive ( well a few days ago, more have started since then) just under 150 houses have been destroyed in three states so far, and the hot part of summer is still to come!
  13. I found something , not exactly what I was after, but I can work with it. http://www.armchairgeneral.com/map-of-the-month-magellans-voyage-1519-1522.htm#high_1
  14. Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone knows if this exists. I am in search of an interactive world map that students can plot a course on for my studies. I am doing a bachelor of education, and I have to make a series of lesson plans around a particular strand of the new Australian curriculum. I am creating a series of lessons around Magellan, and as I need to have one of the lessons involving students using the computer. I have tried searching but I basically don't know exactly what to call it. so what I am after is a website that allows students to draw on a map (online) exactly where Magellan sailed. Of course it would be way easier to give them all a world map and tell them to draw it themselves. that is what I have my own children do and if I was in a real classroom that is exactly what I would do. thank you
  15. I don't have one. DH never got one. instead we used the money to buy house stumps for the house we live in. we had only limited money. I do however have a wedding ring, and I love wearing it. I never take it off.
  16. head injuries scare me as well. I would be going in to the hospital.
