  1. My MIL goes on an on about how she wishes she had girls, and I'm so lucky to have girls. Girls are so much easier and more fun to be around than her boys were. She goes on and on right in front of her 2 sons like they aren't there. I can't believe that some of you mamas were told to "get rid" of your babies! That is beyond being rude.
  2. My MIL is also a control freak. She has to have her hand in everything. She gets so POed if we do not do things the way that she wants them done. She has yelled at us for buying a new vacuum, lawn mower, car, etc. without consulting her first. This Christmas we got FIL a heated mattress pad. We got the wrong size (didn't realize that his bed was x-long), and she has lectured DH and I multiple times about it since then. Apparently we are always supposed to call before we buy them a gift, and Christmas was ruined because of DH's thoughtlessness. (Ahhh, deep breath...)
  3. Yep, my MIL. When I was pregnant with DD1, MIL told my DH, my mother, a PartyLite consultant, and pretty much anyone else who would listen that she wished we had waited to have a baby until her mother died. Apparently, it was too much for her to handle all at once. FYI that was 5 years ago, and her mother just passed away this past summer. AND she (MIL's mother) was thrilled to have 2 great-granddaughters, one of whom is named after her. :)
  4. My 4 year old just started book 2. She usually does 2 pages a day. (We only do it on days that she wants to.)
  5. I am not opposed to designer dogs, but I am opposed to people price gouging because a type of dog is "popular". We only paid $300 for our pure bred Miniature Poodle. She is beautiful, so far healthy, has a great temperament and as I understand comes from champion lines (sorry, I don't know show dog lingo!) I know the breeder and know that she does right by her dogs and the miniature poodle breed. She travels to show her dogs and has invested in the breed for 20 years. We bought her on a pet contract and were required to have her spayed. (She is missing 3 teeth, so therefore not "breeding quality"?) I just don't see how in the world can a mix breed dog be worth $500+ more than that?
  6. I find that tacky also. Since when is it polite to request birthday presents from your guests? Sure it's nice to receive gifts, but to dictate what people are to give you? I would probably decline the invitation (though I most likely wouldn't have the guts to tell them why!)
  7. How wonderful that you found something to bring her relief! It must be beyond wonderful to see her smiling and playing. Great job mama! :001_smile:
  8. DH and I dated for 6.5 years. We have been married for 5.5 years!
  9. I would definitely have her checked by a doctor. My dd is 4, and a couple of months ago she was having accidents here and there. She was also wetting the bed at night, when she had been dry at night for about 6 months. I too thought that she was trying to hold it while she was playing (I still think that is part of it). Then she had a urine accident in her dance class. She was horrified and so embarrassed. She had only been having accidents outside of home prior to this. I took her into the doctor. They checked her for a UTI, but it turned out that she was suffering from constipation. Her intestines were full of stool which put pressure on her bladder and caused her to become urine incontinent. Constipation can also cause stool accidents. We also have found that orange juice and Sprite cause her to have urine accidents, so we do not allow her to drink either.(She is normally not allowed to drink Sprite anyway, but I let her have some as a treat once while we were seeing a movie at the theater.) Our dd also laughed a lot of times when she had an accident, but I think she was trying to cover up her embarrassment. Good luck!
  10. But I'm not talking about the government here. I'm talking about Amazon, a company that is free to choose what they do and do not sell.
  11. Apparently I have not searched that far and wide on Amazon. I suppose it is ignorant, but the subject of what Amazon does and does not sell has never crossed my mind prior to this recent news.
  12. Wrote to them with my complaint and asked that they close my account. Since they've had the other book on their site since 2002, I don't see them removing either of them.
  13. These look awesome! I can't wait to get some for dd1. Our hair is so fine, and the reviews I have read say they work great with fine hair!
  14. Thanks so much for all of the ideas! I've added a bunch of things to our instant queue!
  15. That's amazing! The OB that delivered DD2 told me that she has done ultrasounds immediately before a c-section to confirm that a baby was breech only to have the baby turn head down by the time she got s/he out.
  16. DD2 was head down until 3 days before she was born! She flipped breech at 40 weeks 1 day. She was 9 lb. 4 oz. at birth, so don't let anyone tell you that they can't turn late in pregnancy! Good luck to you!
  17. Check out the forums at http://www.afullcup.com/forums. There is a separate board for pretty much every store around. These people are awesome at getting the best coupon deals. It does take some time to match everything up, but the savings are tremendous. A lot of times I can get name brands cheaper than buying the equivalent at Aldi. That site has helped us save us so much money on food, diapers, toiletries, etc.
