  1. We've had our Dyson Animal for almost 8 years, and we've only ever had to replace the filters. I didn't know people had trouble with them.
  2. This is what we do. We actually just got over a 5 days stomach bug. Yuck! My 6 year old goes to the toilet sometimes, but even the 4 year old knows to use the bowl every time.
  3. DD6 has had the stomach flu (only vomiting) since Saturday. She was seen by the pediatrician on Monday, because she had been vomiting 48 hours straight by that point. They said that she was "pretty dehydrated" and prescribed Zofran. If the vomiting did not stop, we were to take DD to the ER. She stopped vomiting after the first dose. She did not vomit yesterday and has only vomited once today. She looks and acts better today. Her lips are full again instead of all dried out. She has even been getting up off of the couch to play. The problem is that she doesn't want to drink and has only been urinating about 2 times a day since Saturday. I have been trying to push her to drink, but she is just taking sips here and there. She will not even eat a popsicle. I called the pediatrician's office today and the nurse said to taker her to the ER. I will take her if she needs to go, but she looks and acts so much better than she did on Monday. I don't want to go and have them do nothing but send us home.
  4. We love DisneyWorld! We went for our honeymoon in 2005, then again in 2008. My dad says that he is taking our whole family this fall, but nothing has been planned yet. (Can I tell you how crazy this is making me!?) We have been putting all of our money towards paying off debt the past few years. We should have our van paid off in 2-3 months (yay!), and I am hoping to make yearly trips after we go this year!
  5. Honey is great for most coughs. I think Zarbee's works even better, but it tastes awful! Benedryl works well for sneezing and to dry up runny noses.
  6. Ack! I haven't watched it yet! Must not read this thread!
  7. I think you should celebrate!
  8. We use albuterol (not Xenopex - I'm not familiar with it.) for DD 4.5. Her wheezing causes a nonstop cough. The last time she was sick, she did not really respond until the 3rd dose was given (at 4-6 hours apart). The ped said this can be normal. If he is wheezing and doesn't have a treatment plan, I would definitely have him seen by someone. Hope he feels better soon!
  9. We love Dave Ramsey! We took the class 4 years ago, and it changed our life. We haven't been very gazelle intense lately, but we will finish paying off our van and will be debt free in 3 months! We owed $54K in debt when we started out. DH lost his job, we moved, and then we had another baby all in that time. We haven't used a cc in 4 years. My DH was skeptical at first, but after starting the classes he became a fan too. It has really changed the way we look at money. I wish someone had taught me all of this before I went out on my own.
  10. We had to put one of our kitties to sleep last week. She was 12, and she had a tumor in her lung, poor baby. :crying: I am DYING to get a kitten. I know the kids would be too, but I've already told them that we aren't going to for awhile The reasons for not getting one... 1. We have another cat who is 15. She is healthy and doing well right now. She is not very social. I'm afraid a kitten will stress her out. (She does not do well with new adult cats, so that is out of the question. I have fostered many kittens though out her life, and she does not mind them at all if they come as babies. We haven't had any kittens around here for 2+ years though...) 2. We have 3 (small) dogs, 2 of which are also 15. They are good dogs and would put up with a kitten, but I don't think they'd be thrilled. 3. My husband doesn't "think we need another cat." He is not opposed to it though. He loves animals and says he doesn't care either way. But I still want one. I know that we have the ability to care for and love another animal that needs a home, and that makes me want to go to the shelter and pick one out right now. Maybe I'm trying to fill the void that losing our little kitty has left. She loved to snuggle, and she always sat next to me while I was on the computer. :crying: Maybe I should wait awhile and see if I still feel the same?
  11. We go to DH's grandma's on Christmas Eve. On Christmas morning, we stay home. (The rest of DH's family goes to his aunt's for Christmas breakfast, but we stopped doing that when our oldest was 2. It just got to be too much for us.) My mom comes over late Christmas morning, then my dad comes over in the early afternoon. Then we have to pack up and go to the ILs by 5pm. Honestly, I would love to do nothing but stay home in my jammies and let the kids play all day!
  12. We usually decorate soon after Thanksgiving, but that will probably change this year. Our youngest was born on December 6th last year, so we will probably wait until after her birthday to decorate from now on.
  13. I love these threads! I missed last week, but I'm definitely in this week!
  14. :hurray: There's nothing like seeing your kid read for fun!
  15. I went at 2pm and was able to walk right in, no line at all.
  16. My 1st grader will be 6 in a couple of days. The cut off here is Sept. 1st.
