  1. We tried the RS4K biology last year and did not like it. We switched to RSO and were much happier. We stuck with RSO for chemistry this year.
  2. We've just started Ancients and this week we read The Best Book of Early People. Amazon link. Both my kids enjoyed it.
  3. I haven't read this one, but it came up in a google search for "picture book black cat."
  4. We're starting again on Monday. I'm excited, but a little bit nervous since we are using some new curriculum this year. I planned a light-ish week for our first week and then we will be working on everything the next week. I have really high hopes for this year to be a fabulous year. And crossing my fingers that it works out that way. :D
  5. What about diagramming sentences that are about their interests. My son is a lot more interested in grammar when I make up sentences about Legos or Harry Potter.
  6. I'm there. I just followed a bunch of you. :) http://pinterest.com/chikngirl/
  7. I don't watch tv as it happen, but my parents dvr a few shows for me. :D I watch The Killing (on AMC), Criminal Minds, Wilfred (on FX) and want to watch Person of Interest when it starts. DH and I have recently started watching Fringe. We're working on Season 2 now, but I don't know that we will be caught up to start watching it this fall.
  8. We are using it for the first time this year. I'm excited!

  11. Thank you, Bill! I loved this post, all of it. :D
  12. My lit books don't arrive until Monday. I haven't made any decisions yet, since I haven't seen them. My tentative plan would be to get through Grammar Island before starting the lit books. I'm not sure how long we will take reading them. We might not start them until next year if it feels like too much to add it this year. Re-reading this, I see I had nothing helpful to say. Sorry. :(
  13. I figured out how to export. When I created my plan I gave each book it's own plan, hopefully that will work for you. Which yahoo group do you want it posted to? The MCT group, an HST group, something else?
  14. I have Angela's plan in my HST+, but I don't know how to share it with you. I'll try to figure it out...
  15. If you sign up for Office Depot emails they will send you a $10 off $50 coupon. The ProClick is $49.99 (or .95) and the packages of spines are about $9.99. You can get the ProClick and a package of spines for about $50 plus tax.
  16. RightStart Math has students keep a math journal. Wev had an assortment of problems, roman numerals, times tables, etc in ours. I really like the idea of a spelling book, a grammar book, etc., but I'm not sure how to implement it when it isn't a part of the curriculum. It sounds like making a book for each subject would be like notebooking, but not on separate pages.
  17. I couldn't find anywhere that says this. I'm looking forward to my order arriving so I can start to make a schedule. :D
  18. My husband works in a specialized field in construction. So far this year he has worked a total of 4 weeks. Last year he worked almost 3 months, and that was better than the year before that. His unemployment runs out completely in September and all other job leads haven't turned up anything. He has applied for jobs in other fields and hasn't landed any of them. We are looking at moving in with family next month. Dh will end up taking any job he can find, and it certainly won't be for a living wage like he gets when he has union work. Our future has been uncertain for the last few years. It sucks. :crying: I keep crossing my fingers and hoping for a miracle.
