  1. Undergrad GPA was more important than the GRE score. This was for a graduate level nursing program.
  2. I am so glad they found him! It appears this family has recently been through quite a bit of hardship.
  3. My Dh teaches math to our son so he corrects immediately. He is there with my son while he does the problem set so he can catch mistakes right away.
  4. We used K12 in CA through the California Virtual Academy. It wasn't bad but they started to pile on more and more "busy work", like mandatory online enrichment courses, Study Island, lots and lots of standardized type testing. I liked the curriculum for the most part. They had great field trips for families. Enjoy your school year!
  5. My 12 year old son goes to bed between 10 and 11. He goes when we go. He usually reads for 30 minutes or so before he crashes. My dh usually stop working around 10 pm so it gives us some time to hang out together as a family.
  6. :grouphug: I am sorry. I so understand. It is really crazy out there job wise. I hope he finds something really quick.
  7. No weekday sleepovers. Friday night only. Saturday is for us, I am not being the neighborhood babysitter all weekend. Hold fast to your boundaries, aspies really need them.
  8. We do 4 full days and 2-3 hours on Friday. The rest of Friday is for field trips and so forth. We start early on Fridays, so we can be done before 10 am.
  9. My dh has an office at the back of the house. We do school in the family room so there is not too much conflict. My dh teaches several subjects each day so we just switch off in the hallway. When he teaches I go in the office. So far that has worked. We have no idea what our new house will be set up like so it may all need to change. I'd suggest allowing time for the transition. They will get used to him being home all day within a few weeks.
  10. I planned on it, but my little guy was very sick yesterday and last night, so I called school off today. We have been back in session since July 18th and have not missed a day. We move in 2 weeks and I really need an extra day get stuff done packing wise, so it works out ok.
  11. Awwww! Puppy breath! I love puppies. Enjoy your new fur-friend! :D
  12. Yes, we just dropped BJU Life Science. It is a GREAT course but in the last year my son did Advanced Life Science through K12, Oak Meadow Life science, and all 3 Apologia zoology books. He loves life sciences, but it was overkill big time. So we just switched him to Oak Meadow Environmental Science, the one they use for 9th grade. I think it will be a good change for him.
  13. My DH teaches math, spanish, logic, and helps out with science and history. He will be taking over 100% for high school and has really stepped in for middle school. It works really well for us.
  14. You have a certain amount of time to cancel the loan. It is not long though, maybe 14 days BUT your school may only give you 3-4 days AFTER class starts to drop your courses and not owe the tuition to them. You need to contact the school immediately, so you can drop the courses before the drop/add period ends. If you do not, you will be on the hook for at least the first disbursement on your loan. You should have received a notice telling you when the disbursement was sent to your school or when it will be. Good luck.
  15. We are moving September 22. I'm wiped out from packing, schooling, studying, rinse, repeat. We are driving and it will take us 3-4 days. I just did this is in December of 2009 so yes, unpacking is easier. You can take your time. I have taken so much time that I have boxes that I never unpacked . That has made some of the re-packing easier.
  16. I do. DH and I are both on WW and we are trying to really watch our pennies. Having all the meals planned really helps us stay on track.
  17. I did my RN-BSN through Chamberlain College of Nursing. It took me 8 months. It was a fantastic program! It completely prepared me for graduate school. I still rely heavily on what I learned in that program in my doctorate program. Give them a look: http://www.chamberlain.edu Good luck!
  18. No, but if it was a wedding marrying affair partners it wouldn't be a wedding I would attend. That would be way too painful and stir up all kinds of issues for us.
  19. How about a quick lunch or early dinner out? I'd invite her out to lunch or dinner. Pick up the tab, smile a lot, make "cocktail" talk, and then go home.
  20. We move to AZ in 38 days. It will be a few weeks before we find a place to rent while our home here in Illinois sits on the market for sale :glare:. I will start as soon as I get keys to the new place. I LOVE fall and the Fall holidays. I love Christmas so the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas stuff goes up.
  21. There are a few things I would be doing differently for my Aspie/ADHD/anxiety-prone 12 year old. I'd use Teaching Textbooks for math instead of Saxon. I'm totally paranoid about tests scores though. I'd encourage him to pursue his interests more. I wouldn't stress over writing so much, he hates it. The physical act of writing is so tough for him. I'd do way more interest led learning. In an ideal world I wouldn't worry so much.
