I did not use blanket training. But I know people who did. And not everyone uses spanking. There are many, many people who implemented it with no spanking whatsoever. I just think that's an important point. So many times lately I hear someone's entire life judged by whether or not they used blanket training. and I'm NOT a Duggar fan. But it's a fallacy that blanket training always equals beating babies. That is all.

Timmie!(dog's name) stop napping on the pages of the open math book and go back to your bed!

I have an aunt and uncle who are very similar. My cousin considers her mom somewhat responsible, but mostly feels her mom is a victim. It's super scary to go against your husband in that world!

All I can tell you is that I had the itching exactly like you described for about 3 years. Tried all sorts of things. Then it just magically went away. I don't know why. Coconut oil was the most helpful.

I wonder if maybe instead of being in on it the entire time that maybe when she returned home, they realized what had happened and joined in the story after that to protect her.

One prune each day. I actually really like them! If they're super dry, I think they taste like fruit leather. It works though! -

Algebra 1 - Thinkwell vs Derek Owens vs Mr. D vs Denison Math
KeriJ replied to ktgrok's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I haven't researched the others as much, but I am just about to purchase Denison for my 3rd and 4th dc after using MUS. It seems to address everything I was hoping it would! -
I hate feeling like a Karen. Carrie is close enough.

I'm not sure where this fits in the conversation, but it made me think of last Thanksgiving. We had just finished dinner and thought taking a family walk sounded like a good idea. Granted, there were a lot of us. But it was 2 middle aged parents, 3 elderly grandparents, and our 5 teen/preteen kids. We walked through our neighborhood and onto other residential streets where we have always walked. But one of my kids pointed out that a lady was taking a video of us through her kitchen window. It made me feel weird, because I couldn't figure out what we were doing that was so crazy as we strolled through town chatting quietly on a holiday. -
No memorial or celebration of life question, plus whining
KeriJ replied to Ginevra's topic in The Chat Board
Yes! He definitely reaches out. He just waits for them to let him know what the plans for a service will be. And actually, it is rarely the widow or widower who requests a service. Usually the request comes from the children, even if they don't attend our church. -

This is my thought. Dh is a pastor and never wants to assume the family will ask him to do the service. It's almost always the family that initiates the plans. -
Has anyone read LaRee Westover's memoir Educating?

One trivial question I have had...can anyone comment on the fact that Tara claimed her dad had his face melted off and was permanently disfigured, yet there are recent photos? I don't imagine him having plastic surgery. Would it just be Tara's exaggerated perspective? Am I remembering wrong? -
