Thanks! CLE covers basic division and in 310 does cover short division with a remainder, but that will be at the very end of the year. I guess I was surprised that they were already doing it. I also was thinking of long division as several steps and then having the remainder. The CLE version isn't really that...it is more simplistic.

Do most 3rd graders, at this time of year, in ps learn long division?? I was shocked when a friend told me her dd who is in 3rd at an average ps was learning it. I guess I thought that was 4th?? Clearly we're behind our ps system if that is right!!

I paid $35 per hour 2 x week for my ds when he was in 1st grade. It is before we homeschooled.

I MUST leave the house clean or I can't go. It drives me crazy to come home to a dirty house!!

We did the abridged at 8 1/2. The unabridged was too much for my ds. He loved both of them though!

Check out Ikea. We use the trofast system with bins. They're all separated according to like features. He has a TON of Legos and it's worked pretty well for us. Also, google Lego storage solutions, they're are some great blogs that have built solutions in their child's room!

I scooped it up! I had to set a timer when I saw it this AM! I have gotten about 4-5 things that I had been waiting to go on sale to get this week. I even scored a new hockey goal for ds!

Can you all point me to a book to help me? I can do the basic puberty stuff, general body changes, but not sure what to say on the s3x front. My parents never had to talk with me, so I'm not really sure what to say, I guess. I will look for the God's Design one too~

For 5th grade, I'd get Level II Early Modern~

For 3rd grade: 20 min AAS 5X wk 15-20 min FLL 5X wk 15-20 min WWE 4x wk 10 min WWW 5x wk 20 min ETC and Vocab 4 x wk 10 min HWT 4x wk We also do GSWL...takes about 10 min a day 5x wk. Reading is approximately 30 min daily, plus read alouds by me. I download comprehension questions and ask them orally of him for his silent reading. Right now I'm trying to get him to fall in love with reading so he can read pretty much whatever...he's finishing the Judy Blume Fudge series and he's 1/2 way through the abridged version of Treasure Island. I want to get him into the Carol Marsh mysteries!

I REALLY, REALLY wanted to like it. I still have it b/c I want to like it. BUT, it's boring (for us). My son would GROAN every time we got it out. It's a great program, but he didn't retain anything b/c we did it orally since he's writing phobic and it required a ton of writing. I do think it's a GREAT program, just not for us. I used it for 1/2 of 2nd and I have 3rd grade as well, but we're sticking with FLL after trying GWG.

I don't know where you live...and this is a more long term solution anyway...but here in my state, you can have your child tested for speech at the county board of education and if services are needed, they are provided at no cost. Now, I am not saying he needs it or comparing them in any way. I just wanted to bring it up so if you want the testing and can't afford it, it may be available. Try A&D layered with the Mylanta. My kids were ALLERGIC and still are to zinc oxide which is in most diaper rash creams (and sunscreens...yay us!).

My brother's life was saved by a donor. Register. We thank God everyday that his donor (who was and is a complete stranger) was so selfless and gave so that another had the opportunity to live. We get to have the information on the donor soon, I can't wait to thank her!

I'm using with my 3rd grader. I reserved it at the library and received it about 2 weeks ago. We've been using it daily and LOVE it. It's easy, quick and fun for us to do together. I'm learning it along side of him! I've got it in my cart on Amazon now to buy since I know we like it! We also use FLL3, for what it's worth.
