  1. I didn't either. I don't believe in buying extended warranties. We have fully funded emergency funds which would cover things...because it WOULD be an emergency if something happened to my Kindle! I just got it for my birthday 3 days ago and I LOVE it! It's so cool! I have a cover and a padded case for it also.
  2. Yes! Been there, done that! (My boys don't seem to be adversely affected...but then again, they are teenagers/pre-teens now...it's hard to tell!) I think it's healthy to have time alone with your husband. It sounds like your in-laws will keep them entertained and safe. You'll appreciate your kids more if you have time away from them!
  3. Congratulations!!! What wonderful news...and so encouraging! I have a ds who is in 10th grade and has dreams of USNA. He is taking some classes this year at the cc through dual enrollment and will do his junior and senior year. What an inspiration! Congrats!
  4. Sorry for your loss. He seems like a great brother, husband, father, and friend. Take care!
  5. Congratulations! You deserve a massage! When I used to run half-marathons, I learned to schedule a massage the next day. It REALLY helped my recovery time. Enjoy your success! :)
  6. I enjoyed her lectures on the Illiad. (Although, I didn't feel thinner and better looking! I guess I'll have to listen to the ones you did!!!) :) Have a great day! :)
  7. Math: Algebra II (college textbook that uses Dana Mosely DVD's) Science: Chemistry-Apologia with Teaching Company DVD's Language Arts: Elegant Essay, Fix-It, Vocabulary from the Classical Roots, possibly Comp I at the CC in the second semester History: Spielvogel's Western Civ with Teaching Company DVD's and reading corresponding literature Elective: Web Design - Florida Virtual School Elective: Drama - public HS Outside activities: Boy Scouts (will be finishing up Eagle project), lacrosse, piano lessons, youth praise band He's finishing up Latin in the Christian Trivium Vol. II this year and we think that may be the end of that. I'm not sure if we'll add any foreign language to the mix.
  8. We're using Chalkdust Basic Math and are seeing benefits.
  9. FL allows us to participate in extracurriculars, as well as being dually-enrolled for classes. My ds has taken driver's ed and drama I and II at the high school, runs cross country and track, is in the drama club and musicals. I guess we're lucky! He is also dually-enrolled at the community college here (only have to pay for books.) :)
  10. Congratulations! You have given me some encouragement today...when I needed it! I know BOTH of you have worked hard. Now it the time to enjoy it!
  11. I loved the first one when I was younger, however, my boys loved the second one! I'm not much help, am I? I was able to check out both of them from our library. Enjoy!
  12. Wow! Thanks for the detailed review. I was thinking it would be great to have the Bible on it, too! I still have some Christmas gift money that I haven't spent...and my birthday is coming up....the Kindle is moving up to the top of the list now. I really appreciate all your comments. I hope you continue to enjoy it!
  13. The Kindle 2 sounds cool...is it easy on the eyes? My almost 44 year old eyes are starting to deteriorate :( and I thought it might be nice to be able to change font size in books. By the way, SWB's book is great in the old-fashioned medium also! (But it would be a lot easier to carry on the Kindle!) I'm looking forward to the next book....maybe I will have a Kindle by then..... Happy reading!
  14. Are you enjoying it? My birthday is coming up and you've got me looking into getting one! Is it easy to read? I think I would like being able to adjust the font size. Did you get a case? Happy reading!
  15. Yes! I love mine! I have hardwood floors and the "Carina" is perfect for them. :)
  16. My ds took drama in 9th grade (about half of his youth group from church is in it...and the teacher also goes to our church!). This year he took driver's ed (one semester) and is taking drama II. He also runs cross country and track. I would advise you to check with your school district and see what you have to do. In FL, you can be dually enrolled at high school and/or participate in extracurricular activities. My ds enjoys drama and has been in the fall musicals the past two years. The play this year is going to be going to State (yeah!). They have a great program and the kids are good kids. The high school has been very accommodating and nice. My ds is also dually enrolled at the local cc and is taking two classes there. He enjoys those also. He takes a couple at home, too! Next year he will be taking all of his classes at the cc. Good luck!
