  1. One thing that I have started doing is pre cooking a lot of things and having them in the freezer. For instance I had some ground beef cooked, in the freezer, then my 10yo made tacos-- she defrosted the beef, added the mix and chopped the lettuce and toms.
  2. I would wear the nylons-- especially a quality pair that are tight and shiny-- it would look more like a costume
  3. I wear soft lenses (they are the two week ones) and I wear them for about a month. I also have a pair of glasses-- I highly recommend glasses for lots of reasons-- good when your eyes are tired (driving long distances-- late nights studying--- illness--) I also like to go to bed without having to get up and take out my contacts--I just put my glasses on the nightstand and go to sleep-- I also never accidentally fall asleep in my contacts. I find that giving my eyes a break when they are tired also adds to the life of the contacts-- once protein builds up on the contacts they are really hard to clean and I end up tossing them. I have had gas perms and I really prefer soft-- they don't pop out when I get hit in the head (I lost a few in volleyball) To avoid the cost of a yearly exam, I buy twice the amount I would use and get an exam every other year. There is no limit to how many you can buy during the prescription year-- so I buy double. I get the exam and lenses at Costco. I think I pay about $100 for the exam and I don't know how much for the lenses (DH buys them). Every month DH buys a box of lenses and use only one pair (there are three). I am currently 1.5 years from my last exam and I have enough lenses to last until February/March -- barring nothing out of the ordinary happens (loss or rip).
  4. My recipe is very close to lost surprise's------ the neat thing about this cake, is that it is better the next day. So very handy to make the night before. I have had some issues with sub-par oil and it ruined the cake-- I haven't tried butter, but I will next time.
  5. I would not spay a pregnant cat-- too much chance for bleeding and complications. I have, however given a pet a shot to end the pregnancy (if it is not too far along) then proceeded to spay the animal later. This was however for the sake of the animals health (it was a very young dog that bred with a larger breed).
  6. I have four children and the backpacks go into each other to make one pack, then get hung on a hook inside the coat closet door. Lunch boxes get washed , hung on the line to dry and put away into a plastic container on the bottom of same closet (in a stack of them, one with winter hats/gloves, and one with summer hats/stuff. Water bottles-- same. One child's duty is to make sure all the back packs are put together (with all the homework stuff in a certain place) all the children are responsible for making sure all the lunch boxes are in the kitchen. Reverse is true for the morning--- one child gets the lunch boxes and one child digs out the backpacks and separates them.
  7. That is so sweet--- it is hard being #1's sister #1 is a great artist and everyone comments #1 makes movies and everyone wants to come over and be in them #1 is a great writer and her PS teachers all comment about how good she is........... #2 has some great qualities--- they just aren't really showy (but ever so much more useful in her adult life)
  8. I took that class with my mother when I was her age--- that is a really good idea!!
  9. She was very proud of herself--- I am just glad that she has **hopefully** found her "thing". Her sister is miss "talented at everything" and this one is the "good at practical things"-- you know the things that make your life great but no one really notices like organization and remembering details and programing the vcr. She has felt inadequate in comparison. Glad she has something she can be better at than her sister.
  10. Hey look at you--- here on the boards!! I sent you a picture on your email--LOL HEY GUYS!!! Its my best friend Aubrey! Lara
  11. She was mad at me for buying a cake mix (I was trying to ease her into baking) since she wanted to do the whole thing by herself, I was trying to make it a little bit foolproof. She did it all--- all I did was help in making the frosting.
  12. I hope you are getting the care and rest you need. I so wish I was close enough to help.
  13. FYI uses the H wordhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olEbwhWDYwM
  14. We thought super 8 was just OK. We really liked-- I Am Number Four All time favorite horror flick is House- (the first one) some usage of the F word but really funny with scary stuff mixed in.
  15. I am so sorry you are going through this. Is there someone who can watch your children? I cannot express how much my heart is hurting for you. Just know that you have what little support I can give. Lara
  16. A couple of suggestions..... --- I don't know what you have in the bottle, but I started watering the bottle and by the time it mostly water, the child decided it just wasn't worth it. --- Next, I did this when my child was smaller-- but it worked-- I put her down and piddled around in the room -- I folded laundry and picked up stuff-- I stayed near the child but didn't interact or look at the child and she learned to fall asleep. ___ When my son was older I would lay next to him and read a book-- not to him, just next to him -- I made him be still (I had calm music playing) and I read until he fell asleep. Hope some help is given
  17. Really--- getting better--- Other trustee called and is angry (the koolaid seems to be wearing off) I am on drink #3--- starting to feel no pain Still hate her though---
  18. I can throw a rock in any direction and hit a church just like that here---- Don't know why-- it is a fairly small town but we have lot of churches and most seem to be traditional baptist---- the one that is more contemporary--- has two services-- one contemporary and one traditional
  19. It does suck and I after this recent cr*p is over, I will hopefully be through with her. I am just so tired of her and her lifestyle. Every 5 years she has to reinvent her life-- either by destroying something or building something new that takes lots of sacrifice-- only to destroy it 5 years later. houses, yards, careers, marriages, friendships-- you name it. I spent my life moving and doing a new yard design only to move again. I have been in this house with DH for 11 years and I haven't done a single thing to the yard. The longest I ever even lived in one place was the condo I bought at 20-- I lived there 7 years until I married DH. Where is the bourbon???? We are sadly lacking in Valium.
