  1. Growing up people thought she was great-- she was always well dressed in the latest (sometimes teen) fashion. I see now she was in competition with me-- she could spend $500.00 in one day on herself, but only buy my clothes at the discount stores--- unless she needed to feel like a generous mom-- then she showered me with stuff (only to hold it ransom later). I see all this now as an adult, but then I was just really mixed up. But now, this is just mean, making me clean up her messes and hiding and not answering the phone and not doing what she promised to do.
  2. My children think she is fantastic All my friends thought she was neat-- except for the ones that *really* knew me. The most frightening thing I ever heard coming from her mouth was that she wanted to live to be 110 years old--- I thought--I'll never outlive her. I had a couple of really great years when she was really mad at me and stopped speaking to me (then wondered why I was so mad at her) but a couple of years ago she broke her hip and I was the only one to take care of her-- I still believe in taking care of your parents. **sigh** it was a good couple of years
  3. Borderline personality disorder--- basically bat**it crazy, but can hold it together long enough that everyone thinks she is fantastic and you are nuts for complaining. They use their children to fill out the parts of their personalities that are lacking. She borders narcisism and manic depressive. So she spends a couple of years being bullet proof--- and then hides when the s**t hits the fan. The most famous example is from the movie "mommy dearest"
  4. Well, I called DH and he was great-- even offered to make a phone call for me-- I might take him up on that offer. I called my brother-- and basically got-- "Gee that sucks-- that's why I didn't help her like you did" But at the time, he just ran away from her-- like he always does and left me holding the bag then, too. Me, I cannot run away-- she just follows me-- I mean it if I moved away like my brother did, she would move too.
  5. My BPD mother just left me holding the bag....... again. This is leftovers from a few years ago, before I set firm boundaries. I knew she would do this--- I've been tied up in knots for weeks and I haven't done any school in two weeks-- I just cannot focus. Being the child of a BPD mother makes me hate confrontation so I learned early on to internalize it. There are days when I think that only my death will bring me peace- But today, right now, I hate her.
  6. My children wanted to hear "halloween" music so I pulled out my old Goofy Gold ( monster mash) album from the "70's and we have been listening to it since Saturday!! I still know all the songs by heart! Of course we are playing it on DH's old turntable -- he refuses to get rid of it -- he paid so much money for it (back in "85)
  7. The only real issue I had with my condo (other that HOA's dumb rules) was the difficulty I had selling it--- When the market was down someone bought a lot of them and rented them out. Once the percentage of renter to owner is high, a new buyer cannot get a loan very easily. I had to take 5K off the selling price so the buyer could get a bank loan instead of a first time buyer fanny whatever loan.
  8. And the stress..... I haven't had a good night's sleep in years. Will the car make it that far? Can I even afford the gas? What new way can I stretch the groceries? Then there are the "expected" things that there is NO way I can afford--- I just sent a strongly worded letter to a dentist I went to see -- I had a bad tooth that they put a filling in two years ago that is still hurting (one of several) and they said I needed a root canal ($1200.00) I said pull it-- they refused (nicely) I now have a $100 bill and a tooth that still hurts. Not everyone can afford a root canal. -- but it is considered "bad" to not save that tooth Now I have to try and find the $ for health insurance that still won't cover dental
  9. BTW--- I'm only a couple of years behind you--- I did the shots in my 20's for endo as well (didn't work-but made for some really big arguments with DH) I know that there are some things at natural food stores, but I haven't had to research as yet. **sigh** I guess I will be lurking for future reference.
  10. I think you are asking at the wrong time---- all the old people are asleep already!!! **snark*** snort*** Tee hee
  11. Chunky chicken noodle soup--- when I was a kid it had huge mushrooms and was a completely different recipe. grape and orange soda --- when it tasted like grape and orange mostly I just wish that they would make things the way they used to-- well. appliances foods cars houses etc....
  12. Thank you for this response!! I feel better now! perhaps I won't warp them forever.
  13. walked out of American pie Slept through Ishtar
  14. So--- I have been very spotty with Latin lessons. I can get Rossetta stone for free and Mango for free, but I had chosen the Ecclesiastical version of LL. would using the mango (which I looked at as well and was also confused by the mix) confuse the children? Should I switch to classical? I was just looking for something that I could give to the children for extra practice when I am busy with the others. Maybe I'll just take further advantage of the LL website.
  15. After DD1 was born (about 6months) I woke in the middle of the night with a band of pain around my chest. I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. I was not. I went to my Dr the next day, he ordered an ultra sound and I had surgery a couple of weeks later. No more attacks, I eat a high fat diet and I have no issues (that I know of).
  16. I really cannot believe that this has gotten this complicated, but here goes. I found a guy on Craig's list that is a repairman and on the side he picks up unwanted stoves, fixes them up and sells them. He had one listed on the site, I went to his house he had several to choose from. I picked an older stove (because I wanted on older one that was made when things were still made well) and I paid for it. He wanted my broken stove for parts. DH and I got the truck, loaded the old stove, traded with this guy and brought home a working one. (this after I spent a year with a broken one). So yes there was the added expense of truck gas driving 60 miles-- not cheap but not super bad. I had earlier gotten a free gas stove (from C"s list-- along with a dishwasher and a microwave) but I couldn't afford to install a gas line-- even though I really wanted one. So I now have a gas stove I need to figure out what to do with---- I'll probably list it for $50--- or just sit it out on the front lawn for free. And BTW I was just throwing out a suggestion for her-- another option that might work. One that might keep her from having her rent raised or saving her the expense of having to move. A cheap, used stove might have been the answer for her and she might not have thought of it as an option. Sheesh
  17. The old fashioned pencil sharpeners from when I was in elem school. Q-tips that were really fluffy (I found some in my old emergency/camping kit--- wow were they great)
  18. My daughter needed deodorant at an early age and still hasn't fully hit puberty yet (almost 12)
  19. Jello pudding pops--- yumm (I can make those if I really want them though) Mary Kay lipstick-- it was called "intensity controller"-- it took any thing that was too bright or too dark or or or and made it pretty Mary Kay mascara--- they used to make one that was waterproof, smudge proof-- but would wash off with just soap and water. Penny loafers (at a reasonable price) I really want a pair but I don't want to pay $60 for them.
  20. Honestly, I would look into buying a used one on Craigs list and avoiding the LL altogether. I bought mine last year (an older used one) for $50, they are frequently free however.
  21. I pour bacon grease over it I give him the skin and innards from chicken, the fat from beef, any old meat from the fridge I cannot remember the age of
