  1. We usually use the same baskets but a tackle box crossed my mind (like Hyacinth said) What goes in the baskets change year by year (according to interests at the time) but fishing stuff is always good. In fact I am thinking they will find their fishing license in there this year. Outdoor games (lawn darts, Frisbees, football, wiffle ball set, horseshoes, new fishing pole, etc. ) are all good. Usually the shared items are sitting between their baskets and baskets just have candy.
  2. I miss my dad. He died 43 days after I married. I miss playing kickball, barbies, house and any other random made up game I played with the neighbor kids. I miss visiting my grandparents in the summer and laying on their porch swing and reading for hours. I miss visiting my other set of grandparents and spending time with cousins. I miss being able to eat anything and not worry about weight gain or how it would affect my stomach I remember as a teen leaving the house (walking or driving) with a friend and being gone for hours. No one could get ahold of us but it wasn't a big deal. I remember it being pretty on a Saturday or Sunday morning and my dad saying "come on let's go for a ride". Throwing picnic stuff in the car and heading off. Sometimes we would pick up my best friend on the way. We would all be jammed in the car (no seat belts required back then) but nobody cared and enjoyed the day.
  3. Property taxes due this past week. After paying those we had $10 left. Used that to buy milk, bread and spaghetti noodles. Tight week but we had plenty of food, warm house and happy kids so all was good.
  4. Hoping to do ALOT of general cleaning. The house is a mess all over.
  5. Dh's dad used a big 3 ring binder, page protectors and tabbed dividers. Maybe not the best way but it is all together, organized and can be flipped through. Works for him.
  6. As long as it is clean it is ok. After buzz cuts for years and years ds1 wanted to wear his "shaggy". Drove my stepdad nuts (military) but I just kept shrugging it off. Finally after about 2 years he wanted a short shaped style (looked so much better). Now about 3 years of short style he looks back at pictures and says "why did you let me wear my hair like that?". I answer "Same reason I gave your little brother get a mohawk. Free expression". He says "well it looked bad" And I just agree  Yep I gave my ds a mohawk. Not once but 2 or 3 times. He asked me to do it. Even sprayed it colors. Did this when he was about 6, 7 and 9.
  7. What happened to the weekend? I want more weekend! Laundry Pick up all over house Meal plan Go though 1 book shelf
  8. I cooked to much last week. Shouldn't have made so much food but 1 time I accidentally added to much stuff to one recipe. The only thing to do then was double the recipe or toss it out and start over. Another time I was expecting company and they didn't show. We had been eating leftovers but still had quiet a bit. The food needed to be eaten or thrown out. I hate wasting food. So I found a way to get rid of leftovers without throwing them out. Heat all leftovers, sit them on the counter buffet style & set out a pile of plates. Then call in a group of teenage boys. Problem solved, food gone :hurray:
  9. I much prefer breakfast foods later in the day (supper especially) and leftovers or lunch foods for breakfast. When I was in school my mom would fix me a hamburger or some other kind of sandwich for breakfast especially on days I had a test. Other days I might have cereal or breakfast bar. I couldn't eat right after I got up and sure couldn't eat eggs :ack2: Hamburgers were fine and could eat them on the way to school. Now I still prefer a hamburger. Dc love pizza or corndogs for breakfast or any leftovers.
  10. I have missed a couple weeks. Think I have done pretty good just buying necessities but dang things are so high. This week at store I got the "needed" items and then picked up a few really good clearance items that we use often. I also picked up some of the clearance items for bil. He helps us often and these were 10c & 25c items. Seemed to make him happy too.
  11. I use the same thing (got mine from amazon though) I dust the ceiling fans, walls, picture frames ion wall, crown molding and baseboards all with it. I try to run it along other dusty surfaces too. Take it out and shake (gently whack against the porch columns) every so often. It hold the dust and makes things quick. Regular dusting, uh yeah need to do that more often.
  12. Can I dream too? Bathrooms fixed -- functional. Updating is optional Floors fixed Storm windows Several new appliances Furniture New to me vehicle
  13. My friend has this one. http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-Single-Serve-FlexBrew-49999A/dp/B00EYZVWWW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1456414271&sr=8-3&keywords=hamilton+beach+single+serve+coffee+maker She likes it because she can use the k cups or her own coffee. If you keep coffee in the cabinet in the can it came in or in a dark container it will keep awhile.
  14. I do the same -- year folder with month folders. And month folders have some special folders (birthday, special trip etc.) Then in the year folder I have a baseball folder and sometimes a homeschool group folder.
  15. Nothing special. I got dh & dss a sweet treat (and picked out one for myself ;) too). Tomorrow I will give them out.
  16. Prairie - Phlox -- Way to Go :hurray: :hurray:
  17. I sat in the room with family. They were watching. I was reading during the game and watched the commercials.. There wasn't as many good commercials this year
  18. Lumber store = $10 -- Need new mattress but isn't happening anytime soon. Bought a $10 piece of thick plywood. Put it on the box springs, added a folded up blanket on top of the board where the mattress is sagging. Not a new mattress but is much better. Good money spent. Birthday gift for ds friend Fun food for Superbowl and a few groceries Car wash but did the cheap one Wouldn't have been a bad week except for the fun foods. We rarely buy these foods anymore so it is a treat.
  19. I use Debrox ear wax removal drops in ds ear. Lay on side. Drop about 8-10 drops in ear. Lay there letting it go down in ear and work (10-15 minutes). Then flip (hold towel over ear) and let it drain. Then I take a q-tip and clean it out (very easy, not jabbing) Sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes ds can hear better immediately.
  20. Sagging pants :ack2: I just want to jerk their pants up around their neck and tie them in a knot ;). I have no desire to see your underwear :ack2:
  21. I am trying to tackle it but the day is mostly beating me up.
  22. It isn't easy buying for a shorter husky boy either. One ds is shorter but rather chunky (all the guys in my family went though the chunky stage before getting the growth spurt). The jean people seem to think if your waist is a little big then your legs should be long. I generally end up having to hem them. I hate sewing :ack2: :banghead:
  23. I just finished a series (A Miss Fortune Mystery) by Jana Deleon. You MUST read them in order (book 2 picks right up where book 1 left off and so forth) but they are definitely laugh out loud books with a little mystery thrown in. The 1st book is Louisiana Longshot. And is free on the kindle. Or you can get the box set books 1-3 (kindle) for 99c.
