Anyone not have the mental energy for DEEP books?
Baseball mom replied to Ottakee's topic in The Chat Board
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Y'all have made me feel much better. Seems like everyone I have talked to in the last few years only reads heavy/deep stuff or intellectual stuff. If I mention reading twaddle they all frown and look at me like I am horrible. Oh well I can't help it. Reading is my escape and down time. It make me happy to read twaddle. So mostly I don't mention what I am reading. -
This has been more of a spend week for me  Bought stuff for Easter baskets - not that much stuff but it was high priced stuff (fishing license X 3, batteries for drills and a little bit of candy). Some groceries and toiletries -- that added up quick Baseball time = new cleats, pants and batting gloves (thank goodness his bat, bag and helmet are still ok) Back to tightening belts next week. I have made a list of some hs curriculum I want to sale. I need to get the list out to some of the ones in my hs group and hopefully someone will buy stuff.

Nerf wars and Water gun wars are big here too. Most bring their own but we have a few extras in case someone doesn't have one. Air soft wars is another big one here. But there are only boys and they mostly have their own stuff. We do have an extra face mask. Air soft is something everyone including parents have to be ok with. They also do archery contests. We have targets and the guys all bring their own bow and arrows. They also all know my rules. (and if they break them they leave, right then  ) Again not something I would do with a lot of kids but when it is just the 4-5 boys out here I am ok with it. If you have plenty of room and kids are there after dark, flashlights are good. Flashlight tag. Cards and board games are good too

Fire pit will be awesome. That and some camp chairs :thumbup1: A big box of outdoor games is great too. Corn hole, badminton, wiffle balls and bat, rubber horse shoe game, jarts, ladder game (where throw the balls on string)Frisbees, Frisbee golf game or that Frisbee game with pop up looks like trash cans, footballs, etc. Look in sporting goods isle of store or on amazon type in "outdoor games". We keep our stuff in a big box with small pieces (corn hole bean bags, birdies etc. in a smaller container for easy access. Would like to get an outdoor cabinet to keep it in. Table of some sort for putting food on or playing games. We have a picnic table and a card table.

The horror of realizing you are old....(for fun)
Baseball mom replied to SparklyUnicorn's topic in The Chat Board
When I went to get my wisdom teeth out a few years ago. I think I was 40 (I am 45 now.) The girl getting me ready looked 12 and said "we don't usually get people your age in here for wisdom teeth out". When I look in the mirror and see the old person with all the wrinkles :001_huh: When I realized I graduated 28 years ago this year :svengo: -

Found some Breyers Real Fruit topping (for ice cream) on the pantry shelf. Never been opened. Checked the date and it said 2014. So what do you think? Toss or try? -

Me :seeya: I will play. Not sure what is in there but I want to use up random things and hopefully stretch the grocery budget in the proces -
Last week The dc went bowling. It is a yearly group thing. They look forward to it. Bought some things for a project ds is building for me. Had a meeting. Bought supper for myself while out. Groceries were random things we were out of but of course it was the more expensive items I have been putting off buying

Anyone else have a newly minted voter this year?
Baseball mom replied to Lady Florida.'s topic in The Chat Board
I have 1 that will turn 18 next month  Missed the primary but will be voting in November. -
Not what you are asking but here is an idea too. After my 2nd child was born my friend (who had a 6month old) didn't bring me a prepared meal. Instead she went to the grocery and bought me the ingredients for several easy to cook meals and bagged salad and dressing (and some extra treats like cookies and chips cause she loves me and knew I love chips  ). When she dropped off the food she also wrote down the recipes for the simple meals that went with the ingredients she bought. Those recipes are still some of our favorite meals today. The foods she bought yes went with the recipes she gave me but also were commonly used foods. So if I didn't want to fix the recipes she gave me then the food could easily be used for something else.

I think the idea is awesome! I always give diapers and usually in size 1 or 2, never newborn. When I was expecting I was given a lot of second hand items and clothes (and was totally fine, actually very happy about it) so a friend of mine gave me a "diaper shower". Where I received tons of diapers (various sizes) and wipes. :hurray:. And if ds started to grow out of a size before I ran out of that size I took the unopened packs to the store and exchanged them. Think I only had to do that with some newborn sizes.

Are you talking about graduation announcements? I am thinking of doing this too. Stayed awake way to long last night worrying about how to come up with money for graduation stuff. Ds wants no stuff. Just hand him his diploma and be done is what he said.

Spent more this week. It was my stepdad's birthday. I got him presents and ds built him something but needed some stuff for it. Didn't need many groceries but we needed more in the health and beauty aid department (deodorant, monthly supplies, shampoo, meds) and that stuff adds up quick. I am lucky, dss love to mow and do yard work. No yard work going on right now. Raining tons every day.
